Are you guys using the card to pay day-to-day expenses?
I’ve used it today to pay 85 CHF (by having EUR only, as the card only supports EUR and GBP) and:
CDC card (visa exchange rate??): ~81.8 EUR
Revolut: ~80.8 EUR
So I was losing 1€ between cards.
With the 1% cashback from CDC (midnight blue, no staking card) the loss was around ~0.2€.
If I start using this everyday I think it won’t be “profitable” for me, at least while having the no-stacking card.
And the cards wont work for car rental deposots as they are debit cards? I think DKB is taking away my free Visa credit card soon so I am left with my revolut which is also a debit card…
Good question. I know that for Spotify you need to set your account to GB, but I don’t know for Netflix. Someone with the higher tier card can tell? Anyway for Netflix Turkey it’s done with gift card, so not directly the invoice to Netflix, it should not work.
For car rental it should work like any other debit cards : it work as long as you have enough money to cover the deposit when they make the verification. I don’t have credit cards for more than a decade, only debit, and I was able to regularely rent with a Revolut. The deposit needed was arount 2, 2.5k CHF. Might be way higher if you rent a luxury car I guess.
That would not great. A couple of years after I moved to Switzerland, Spotify blocked my Portuguese subscription (with portuguese credit card) by stating that I had been connected far too long in a foreign country and needed to do a local subscription… this was around 2015-2016 probs, so unless something changed that will not go well with GB subscription.
Besides, the card in EUR, why would the account need to be in GB?
I contacted the support to know why my card is still “Issued” from November and they told me that everything is in order, we just have to wait.
To the objection that the card was not usable for months after having locked CRO, they replied that there is a virtual card. But not having ApplePay is therefore very limited.
By the way, I read on reddit, that unlike Revolut, the virtual card does not correspond to the physical one, in fact the physical one has a different expiration date and CVV. This means that we must change all the places where we are already using the virtual card once we receive the physical one.
Could you give me some advice on my situation? At the moment I have a few hundred dollars on BTC and ETH purchased on Crypto.com apps, with which by the way I don’t know what I can do with them, could I pass them on the exchange and do staking? Anyway I would like to do the green card, so I would have to buy € 3500 in CRO and staking for at least 3 months with these to have a 10% interest per year (hoping they are still worth something) and the various refunds (Spotify, Netflix, cashback). Is it worth making the purchase on crypto.com app when I have 28 days of 0% commissions with purchase by credit card? Then should I pass CROs on exchanges (are there any fees for doing this?) And stake & earn there so I can get the green card? Fortunately I also have an Italian bank account in € and the same netflix is also based in Italy in €, even the expense that I often do is in €, so it would be enough to convert currency within the monthly limits on revolut and then send by bank transfer to the fiat wallet to have no expenses? At the end of all this, in your opinion, is it really worth it or is it more of a risk than a real gain? I apologize for the many questions, but everything is so new and complicated that I would not have already made mistakes by letting myself get carried away and buying without knowing well. Thanks in advance.
I did finally Stake the 3500 card. Does anyone know in which timeframe the virtual card should arrive?
Actually, I already regret it. Crypto.com Visa card is against my ‘simplify you life’ goal. And CRO is already down 5% since I bought…
I think I am not made for crypto. I have no Problem seeing all my ETF to go down 20%, but seeing CRO going down 5% scars the shit out of me.
Can you tell me how do you procedeed to obtain the card? I would buy the 3500€ CRO on crypto.com app (by credit card 0% fee) and after transfer the cro to the crypto.com exchange, stake & earn CRO there. Is this procedure correct?
You do realize the risk/volatility on CRO makes a lot of those small fees irrelevant. In the end you’ll likely be 20% away from your buy price, only future knows in which direction.
(So also make sure you don’t just go for the credit card for the benefits but are also happy with the crypto bet going on, there’s a non trivial chance you loses more than you paid in)
