Dear Mustachians

Dear Mustachians
I would like to start looking into heatlh insurance for 2025: I do not find any data in priminfo and, interstingly, no “Your Health Insurance in 2025” thread exists yet: am I too early?
Thank you
Don
Indeed you are, expect the new premiums data to be published on Priminfo the last Tuesday of September, after the press conference of Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
I will most probably publish the new map (see first post of the thread) on the same day or the day after, depending on if they change the data model.
Too early for basic health insurance, too late* for supplementary insurance.
*Until the end of September, but as supplementary insurance should only be cancelled if you know that the new insurance company will take you, it is now very tight.
Thank you both, and yes, I am specifically asking about basic insurance.
If you are talking about basic insurance, just request quotes from three suppliers and compare. I don’t think they would be very different in numbers. Most players have online tools too
Only thing that makes a difference is balance of premium vs deductible & the model (telemedicine, hotline, choice of doctor sets) amongst players. Since basic insurance is regulated , I would be surprised if there is a lot of difference in offerings
All you need to think about is what you care about most and what is just „nice to have“
You would be surprised, then. I’d run a search in Priminfo (the data are still for 2024 so this is just an exercise) and compare the results. Same model, same deductible, very different premium depending on the provider…
Basic insurance all have the same benefits, the same cancellation periods and the same conditions of admission (none, unless you have not paid the bill from your previous insurance). In addition, the prices are public and do not differ (except by franchise and region). The 60-year-old neighbour has the same premiums as the 30-year-old neighbour with the same insurance company. As soon as the government publishes the prices on Priminfo, simply choose the cheapest health insurance company (There are insurance companies that are administratively bad. For example, they take a long time to reimburse benefits or respond very slowly by e-mail. Google for Reviews. This could be a selection criterion. But the legal benefits are the same. Or there are differences in the invoice, e.g. Sanitas accepts credit cards).
What I wanted to say was that it makes no sense to ask for quotes for basic insurance.
Interesting article on one of Comparis business model
FYI - It will be on Thursday
And expecting at least 5% increase?
F# me it‘s +15% for me.
That‘s insane….
And if I stayed at my current provider it would be +30%.
Seem like the yearly provider switch will go on.
This can‘t go on like this, there needs to be action.
Jack up the franchises finally. There is no justifiable reason to not at least adjust them to inflation.
Same for me if I move to Agrisano AgriSMART model - which is app based first contact with MedGate(?)
Anyone has experience with these “SmartMed” models? I’ve used TelMed (CSS/Sympany) models before and am reasonably satisfied with calling in to talk to (MedGate staff?).
Anyone has experience with these “SmartMed” models?
Is it because you had a good deal already? Just looks a bit too high an increase
Are we really comparing apples to apples?
If I check correctly, it appears Sanitas is only going up by 5%
Jesus… it’s 6% for me…
“only” 11.4% on my end (KPT win.win)…
I could somewhat understand the increases during past 2 years (inflation and all)…
But wtf for this year?
Anybody has experiences wit Assura Qualimed? (Not sure if we have a “review” thread of a kind somewhere)
I read somewhere that certain things were added to the scope of basic insurance this year. So maybe that’s what is driving the costs up.
I noticed that the premium calculator on priminfo.admin.ch isn’t 100% accurate for all the plans, so it’s probably worth clicking through to each provider to double check what the actual cheapest offers are.
For example, if I click through to Sanitas website from there, it shows me the cheapest CompactOne plan as around 50chf cheaper per month than the Priminfo calculator. Helsana plans are around 25chf cheaper on Helsana website than shown on Priminfo
Deal is pretty ok currently and stays okay-ish.
It‘s the rate that is majorly concerning. Last year, I paid about 8% more (and only by also switching, otherwise would have been 15%)
Together with this year‘s 15%, it‘s ~25% or 1/4 more than two years ago.
That rate is just insane.
I highly suspect an input error on your side but if not, please report those insurances to the federal government. The page is there to show the consumers exactly the price of the insurance and if this is not true why even publish such a site?
Big chance that this is still showing 2024 rates on the provider website.
Mine has not ipdated to 2025 prices yet for example.
