You had a very clear thesis and a strong conviction. You even called yourself a “fanboy” and “Technoking of Fire”. I assume you have changed your opinion (as you closed and hid that thread).
I am not interested in any gloating, shaming or “knew it better”. This is boring and please nobody do it and neither feel the need to justify anything.
I am very interested in Bojack’s experiences. At what point did you change your conviction? What did it take? Did you immediately sell? What did you learn, has it changed something for you? Looking back, what has made you form your prior conviction? How did you deal with negative emotions? Any mental tipps or recommandations for other investors?
As for myself, I did well in investing but made mistakes. I invested around 2017/2018 in “peer lending”. Risk reward looked very good and it was a fraudulent debtor. Lost roughly 5k even after taking in account profits.
But my biggest mistake was fearing the high price of VTI and consequently underweighing the US stock market up to today. “Cost” me dearly. I did ok, as I put the money in Brk.b instead. That performed well over the years and brought me tax free gains (no divs). But my position in it is now unconsciously large and I still cannot bring myself to buy VTI. So that is me.
