Want a cheaper Internet Provider. Your advice please?

If you have a mobile plan, check whether your provider offers multi-plan discounts. For example, as a Yallo plan user, I would pay 39.95 for the new Yallo Fiber broadband plan (10 Gbps with Wilmaa TV).

The sunrise offer through QoQa is great and their internet has been good for me so far.
But keep in mind that Sunrise customer support is just a nightmare.

I just had to call 8 times within 3 weeks AND treaten to cancel to get them to keep a promise they made me (and confirmed me twice) and sort a problem they themselves created for me.

With them you’re just hoping you don’t have a problem, because if you do you’re in for a lot of frustration.

Yallo has now an Fiber offer for CHF 49 lifetime: https://www.yallo.ch/de/fiber

Could be interesting for some

2 years contract though

I would also recommend fiber7, the reliability of the connection is really good you are basically having a business line and can also choose any router you want, digitec sells a kit if you’re a bit tech savy.

A friend of mine has Salt and he has really poor quality of connection (packets drop, peering issues …) but the speed is better but who needs 8Gbps anyway.

  • 2 year wilmaa. So after your yallo contract is finished I suppose you have to cancel and resubscribe to get again 2 years of wilmaa…

True, but by then there will probably be cheaper Internet plans. I agree the 2-year contract term is kind of binding. A lot can happen in 2 years.

I switched from Swisscom (120/month) to Salt Fiber (40/month) a year ago… one of the best decision I made (stable connection, very professional and friendly customer support).

If I had to to find a negative point I would mention the box which is bigger and not as well designed as the one of Swisscom (but that’s a personal appreciation).

good to hear! I think we will switch to Salt as we have already our phones there. If we are not happy, we will change again.

Funny how Salt can only offer 10Gbit connection though, I only need max 100Mbit/s

What about yallo if you are one of their mobile customer ?

2nd option : wingo.ch

That would be interesting given that my wife has a Yallo mobile plan, too bad the 24 months contract and the 99chf one time fee…

Hit them up on chat and they will waive that.

Qoqa has a 35 chf/month offer for gigabit once a year or so.

Check your municipal utilities. Mine has a municipal fiber network and every provider uses it (except Swisscom who are too good and too expensive for using the same fibers as everyone else, but who cares about them)

I went with gga maur, I pay 45.- for gigabit, can use my own SFP and routing equipment, no activation fees, they gave me a free plume wifi thing that I sold for 70.-, two months free, and a 50.- gift card I can spend at most of the stores an restaurant in my city.

Damn you are a good negotiator

I’m also with upc for internet and mobile. I only managed 55chf for 600mbits today. He would not offer more than 30% on the 79chf. I originally phoned to drop tv because we don’t use it anymore. At first he offered 300mbits at 79chf…
Did you have to push a lot? Maybe I shouldn’t have let him so easy

Depends on the circumstances I suppose.
Is there something being offered now which you could pull in as an argument?

At the time I was negotiating they had an ongoing promo for new customers.
I remained firm telling them that I have no qualms shutting down my current contract and re-registering as a “new customer” to get the deal.
They offered immediately to equal that deal, which was good enough for me.
I guess the pain of paperwork and logistics was worth it for them.

They currently have 600mbit for 39chf/month for new customers - you should easily get it. Worked for me every time.

Yallo (Sunirse net) has now fiber too for 39 chf.

Yeah as Swisslife said they currently have this exact offer.
During the call I said well I can get a better offer elsewhere so just go ahead and cancel my internet as well. He then discussed with someone else I imagine because I was put on hold. When he got back he told me he could do 300mbits at 30% discount. I said meeh still not that great. I started discussing about this offer and he said ok well I can give you 600mbits at the same price. At that point I was a bit lost and didn’t have the balls to say I would cancel anyway, I also have my mobile plan with them at a good price I think so yeah I didn’t have much leverage.

Oh well 600mbits at 55CHF is not that bad…

Big IF… if you are a customer, otherwise 69.

Edit: also what’s with TV? 24month wilmaa plus and then? no tv at all?
