Want a cheaper Internet Provider. Your advice please?

Just tested. Both the “old smartphone” and the “new smartphone” connected using WiFi from the first don’t go above 50 Mbps. When the situation is bad is even 5 Mbps.

Forcing the “old smartphone” to use 4G I get <20 Mbps.

I can configure in the “old smartphone” either 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz. For the testd I’m using the latter.

You think? Even if I run the tests next to the “old smartphone” to get maximum WiFi strength?

Tried this and the results are slightly better, I gain something like 10-20% speed.

From the results I think that maybe even if I have very good signal in the “old smartphone”, the antenna serving the 5G is very busy and can’t deliver much speed. This could be as I live in a city and hundreds of people could be connected to the same Salt antenna at the same time.

Thanks everyone for your input!

PS: as I was wrapping up this long post I did a last test and now the speed is 300 Mbps (tethering and WiFi using the old smartphone).
So random, so unreliable

That’s TL:DR of mobile internet connections  . If fibre is rolled out for 90% of the people I think the use-case of cheap mobile subscriptions for home-internet will be gone. You literally get symmetric 10Gbit/s of stable internet for 39.90.- (maybe cheaper with additional discounts).
