Want a cheaper Internet Provider. Your advice please?

I love wireguard, I even use it on my phone and block all the ads with pihole on my “home server”

Thinking of doing the same.

EDIT: I couldn’t sleep and ended up scrolling in bed. I was so annoyed by the adverts, I got up and installed Wireguard on my phone and PiHole on the server. Now I have much reduced adverts on my phone!

Hoi, does anyone know the conditions for Yallo Black Pack (Home internet + Yallo Black mobile) for 49.90?
They don’t list them on the web, but ask to call them. Has anyone checked?

Wild guess: they will simply sell both normally and enter a LifeTime discount on both or on one product so that the amount matches the offer. That’s how they do it with almost every discount or if you want to cancel or if you buy cable and tv as a bundle. For example:

My mobile subscription:

My cable subscription:

My tv subscription:

Cable and TV were purchased in a bundle.

Woah you got nice deals here!
Last year black friday?

I’ve had Yallo Black for a few years now, it feels like it’s available every Black Friday. And there was a limited introductory price for Cable. Later I wanted to cancel my mobile subscription and was offered another discount, for mobile and cable — which I could not resist.

Great catch with the introduction offer for Yallo Cable!

Yallo Black goes for double the price now, so better keep your subscription for a while if you can

Yallo Black was also around CHF 25 per month at that time. They then adjusted the discount because I wanted to cancel

Check yallo black start if you don’t care much about calls (60min vs. unlimited) - for 19.90.

@markus654
I thought I got a “solid deal” from Sunrise for

  • Fiber internet (unfortunately no cable in our new apartment, so I had to switch :frowning:)
  • +TV (with recording stuff)
  • +Unlimited mobile (incl. ex-CH) for my wife

for 70 CHF/m total,
but you achieved the next level. :raised_hands:

I do use the same tactics (threatening to switch) but it seems it can work even better. :money_mouth_face:
Next time I guess.

I took this QoQa deal. Look out for when the next one comes. Maybe a few black friday deals will arrive:

I’m just waiting for Fiber to arrive and then I’ll go with Fiber7 and pay the premium.

Subject if this topic is “cheaper internet peovider” not the contrary . IMO Fiber7 is far from being cheap…

Aside from that, I’m currently looking for an alternative to Wingo. My Fritzbox 7590 router gave up and I can’t get a stable connection with the Internet Box 3 provided by Wingo (copper connection, as there’s no fiber available in my area yet). If there are any interesting deals for Black Friday (except from Sunrise), I’m all ears!

Well no, but you’re supporting a company that fights for a free and competitive internet provider market. It’s basically 50.–/month for internet access and 15.–/month charity :joy:

The best is never cheap!

I guess it depends on how you look at it. Ask the other providers how much it would cost to get static IP, or 25Gbps connection, or a connection that doesn’t get interrupted once per day/week.

If you really want cheap, just drop the home connection altogether and connect via the mobile phone subscription.

Well, I must say I have mixed feelings about this. During the two years I was a Fiber7 customer, I had never experienced so much instability with my Internet connection. In the meantime, I switched to Wingo with my own router and noticed higher bandwidth and better stability (especially with my Fritzbox router). However, with the Swisscom router provided by Wingo, the instability issues reappear.

It seems in my case that the best setup is Wingo with a Fritzbox router, which allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds. Too bad Wingo won’t provide any other box than the Internet Box 2/3/4/5. It’s a shame they won’t consider covering the cost of a Fritzbox router (they offered to send an electrician who will only say “oh yeah, it doesn’t work”.). I am aware that my electrical installation is not the most modern. However, it seems that the Fritzbox is less sensitive to electromagnetic interference/noise/harmonics compared to the default equipment provided.

So in the end, the best is to do it ourself .

Really? What modem/box did you use?

I was with the non-fiber init7 and the connection was rock solid. not a single drop and the tech support was excellent.

It was the Fritzbox 7590 with Copper7. Worst experience I’ve had so far. I switched to Wingo with the exact same router (after a factory reset), and it was like night and day—stable connection, better speed…

I have to say Init7’s support was OK. Not the most responsive, but they always provided technical information about the problem. Unfortunately, technical information alone wasn’t enough to resolve the issue I had at the time…

They consistently indicated that the problem was due to the Copper7 infrastructure and recommended switching to fiber optic. Unfortunately, fiber optic isn’t available in my region, so they weren’t able to provide a long-term solution to my issue.

Yes, that’s what I would have thought too. I wouldn’t use copper connect. I had a fiber connection and it was great.

For fibre Init7 has their own switches in the internet substations of each village so they have full control over that line. For copper they have to rely on a fully managed service called BBCS from Swisscom where they have no control at all over the line so it was actually the shitty Swisscom copper infrastructure  (and not the Init7 product built on top of BBCS).

Init7 is great if you want to support their company and fiber optic politics. They have achieved a lot in the fiber optic dispute against Swisscom, which is good (otherwise Swisscom would have a long-term monopoly, depending on the region). But the uptime is not that good. We have Init7 in the office. It’s definitely down more often than my cheap Yallo Cable at home. And no, they are not our own problems, they are always problems that are then on the status page and affect the whole region/quarter. But maybe we were just unlucky. Its not BBCS for us. But in the end I still kind of like Init7.
