There are many, many tax cases I read on the topic but I’m not sure if I still have the copies somewhere on my other computer.
But if you want to search, Google and Perplexity can find many and then you can use them as a starting point to reference more as they often cite each other (or use an AI agent to find and download them for you).
Btw. for all poor people here, this also works with the UK and Panama
Even with the UAE, but here’s the “burreaucracy whammy” - because you always need a signed and stamped document in which you notify your new country of residence of said payment (in order to get the Swiss WHT back - which is always levied, no matter what you do) and Dubai or the UAE doesn’t have a tax authority for natural persons (everything is tax free), you can’t get said document and thus not claim back the tax.
AHV contributions are determined on the basis of the final cantonal tax assessment for the relevant contribution year.
Let’s assume that someone holds only securities, lives solely off trading in securities, and also receives some interest income and dividends.
In their tax return, they have to declare the value of their assets. The authority responsible for setting AHV contributions then uses this information to calculate the contributions, correct?
Does this mean that the person does not need to provide any information at all about the value of their assets for the calculation of AHV contributions?
Does the AHV authority receive the data automatically from the tax office, so that the person does not need to provide any information at all to the AHV authority regarding the value of their assets?
Second, where do you get this from? This would be quite an easy argument for excessive formalism. You can’t be taxed if there is not even a taxation authority.
Third, this should be solvable. Writing a letter to the UAE embassy or government notifying them. Then asking for a formal decision of the Swiss tax authority re: getting WHT back. You need to give them a Swiss letterbox for this (where they can adress correspondence to).
Let’s get straight to the point:
What is your real intention and motive in asking about these minor technical details?
But to answer your question: Here’s the form to register for AHV contributions from SVA Schwyz as a non-employed person. It’s a very sweet and short four-page form. It does say under point 13 on the last page:
“Es sind zwingend in Kopien beizulegen: aktuellste und vollständige Steuererklärung oder
Veranlagungsverfügung (Vorder- und Rückseite)”
Prescient as I am, I’m going to pre-empt your next two questions:
“Does the Veranlagungsverfügung include the value of my assets?”
Answer: Yes, the Veranlagungsverfügung does include the taxable value of your assets.
“What would happen if I do not include my tax return as I’m instructed to in the form?”
Answer: We don’t know, because we do not intend to be blatantly uncooperative and cheat AHV on contributions. How about you get in touch with SVA Schwyz and ask them!?
