The Mustachian music thread

A little music thread, maybe some not too known artists out-of their countries.

I start with “the life of slaves in the 21th century” by Gatillazo:

Never heard of them but then again not into punk much, but very nice!

Good idea for the thread too!

Here’s something I go back to every year this time of the year, keeping with the punk theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB2l6UESSyo&list=PLcZMZxR9uxC8nhBY9Jn6kihqK9suWiuBQ

And again from Spain since many decades: el Drogas. Seen him again last year, he is still great. Incredible amount of songs he wrote during his life, that is one of my favorites:

BTW: with that album el Drogas wrote a book about the Spanish Civil War. It was free with the record.

Witthüser & Westrupp.

Wonderful psychedelic German Folk. I remember, in the 70s my sister had to get me that music on a tape drive from a friend of hers that owned a music shop. All records were burnt down somehow then.

Here the complete album “Trips und Träume”:

Here’s some more seasonal stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TV-X-5CcfYY

Also, anyone who knows anything about music will understand that the musical mastery shown in this video by Thijs van Leer is more than 3-4 professional musicians put together achieve in their whole lives.

James Dean Bradfield - If You Tolerate This

I’ve been listening to a lot of acoustic music the past weeks. This being one highlight for a variety of reasons.

Wasn’t expecting to see that here

Best comment under the second video link: “The lyrics really speak to me on a personal level” :):grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

From my sometime-home-country, a song also slave/prisoner-themed, the greatest Africa-born/based reggae artist (IMO), but underrated (mostly unknown) elsewhere.

Lucky Dube, unfortunately murdered much too young in a typically senseless South-African car-jacking. RIP.

A song in a similar vein, from the cusp of the 21st century, an All-time-fab video IMO, powerful music, I love the “Wer wird Millionär” questions (esp. since all still valid today, 25y later), a highlight these days is the “Trump for Prez” placard-carrying guy (at 1:00).

Parental advisory - this “band is anti-family and pro-terrorist”

Which part you didn’t expect to see? Out of curiosity!

Wasn’t expecting to see that band in general. It’s from long ago and not very mainstream.

Ah well my music tastes are pretty varied (equally at ease with Buxtehude and crust punk) but I’ve felt the overall quality of music has gone down the toilet the last 15 years especially, but also since 2000.

Was a shame that Ice T wasn’t allowed to do that very melodic song:

They only had 6 minutes air time for this 8 minute song, so… speed it up!

Jan Akkerman doing crazy things on guitar too.

Funny comments here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9IphKpeDlo

And drummer solid as a rock!

Haven’t paid attention to comments, will see now, this is my favourite reaction vid though.

Mine too, I meant comments as in reactions

“Is that a flute?!”

And Johnny Rotten with Pil, very poetic, very melodic: This is not a love song

All these probably ‘well off’ people on this forum turning out to have punk / anti-establishment roots. We all grow older and wiser… or could it be that it actually helps with FIRE and drives the desire to be (financially) free?

I am a strange person, I like almost all kind of music. But then there is or was never ever really good “pro-establishment” music, or was there?

“If a man is not a socialist by the time he is 20, he has no heart. If he is still a socialist by the time he is 30, he has no head.”

This video of “Casino Gitano” was made at Kulturclub Tösstal (page is very old as the maintainer is still in jail). The club has pissoirs installed with flat screens; check out what the musicians do with it:

Close to home, here’s my son’s former guitar teacher Levin with a seasonal song.
