I thought it’s all connected. Package->Member->3rd pillar or incoming 1300chf/m → MemberPlus
Just check your local bank. It’s a bit tricky to find the pdf but you can do it.
I save it to Apple Wallet for quick access. The expiration date is listed as it’s an annual card. The physical card is theoretically no longer needed, as the “Membre Plus” label is gone. Some museums still ask to “see” the Raiffeisen card just to confirm membership, but I’ve noticed they don’t check anything else. The practices are inconsistent.
As for Twint, it seems a card is required according to the Raiffeisen Twint terms and conditions:
Unfortunately, it’s an “AND” rather than an “OR”.
In my region, the account card is still free for now. However, Raiffeisen banks in neighboring areas have increased the card fee to 10.- per year (similar to UBS, for example).
I managed to renew my Member Plus card (in Apple’s Wallet) for 2025, and I don’t have any package fee, no debit card.
Oh, interesting. I was of the opinion that I can no longer benefit from MemberPlus as I don’t pay anything. I also don’t have a Raiffesen debit card, just an ATM card. But I do have Raiffeisen Shares. I was also able to generate a pass for Apple Wallet. Thanks for the hint!
It might be a glitch. I would check the status on their ebanking platform.
Status is the same : Client MemberPlus
When a “smartphone bank” (Neon, Yuh etc.) does something strange, negative reviews can often be found in this forum. I thought I’d briefly share a negative (ok, not really negative, but strange) experience with Raiffeisen: I normally download the documents I need for my taxes from e-banking every year. However, the documents for 2024 are missing. I then wrote to Raiffeisen, explaining my problem and asking if I could also switch to eTax documents (someone I know can download eTax documents from Raiffeisen e-banking every year - but this is probably because he has a small 3a there. For me, eTax documents have never been available before).
Logged in today: E-banking is empty. I can’t currently track my cash flow or pay any bills.
That’s not tragic - there will be a little bug somewhere in the administration - but it’s still strange.
Someone’s adapting the COBOL code on their mainframe to get it fixed …
They run Avaloq ^^, still not the most recent technology but a bit better than COBOL
Actually they recently changed to Avaloq (something like 3-4 years ago)
2018 was the go live, soon 10 years !
Just a quick service post. I had to do a payment abroad to a neighboring country in EUR. The payment left my account today and a Fx rate of 0.9545 was applied. The official rate was always below 0.94 today. Furthermore, CHF 1 was charged for the SEPA payment. It was an amount of roughly 3000 francs. So they basically charged roughly 50 francs for this.
I thank you for paying my Museumpass. Oh, and yearly dividend/interest on Raiffeisen shares.
Anytime.
Sounds about right. Made the mistake of paying from a wrong account (should’ve been EUR->EUR, was CHF->EUR) and noticed the exchange rate being off ~2%.
Expensive reminder to use Wise next time
That will be the same with other major banks in CH or anywhere else for that matter. They all apply their internal exchange rate with a juicy markup… That’s why Revolut and the others are thriving…
Update:
- I had to sign new e-banking contract documents, after which e-banking worked again.
- All recurring payments were lost and I had to re-enter them, which was time-consuming.
- The eBill link was lost, which I only noticed after I received two payment reminders.
- I had no access to e-banking for 5 days (which is more or less ok for me).
The “reason” was my support request to Raiffeisen because my tax documents were not available as PDFs (as they are every year) and my question as to whether eTax documents are available. It seems to have triggered a process. However, the execution is rather poor …
What annoys me the most:
- I missed my credit card bill, because eBill. I don’t know when I need to pay late fees, but I’ll probably see it on my next bill (or not). I will have to consider whether to link my eBill to a second bank or whether to deactivate eBill for important invoices.
- The payment for my rent didn’t go out because the recurring payments were deleted. And I had no information during “downtime” about whether the payment went out or not, I only found out afterwards that all recurring payments had been deleted.
Disappointing.
Call the CC company. They will waive the fees if you explain what happened. If not, change CC, because even my free CC’s help desk waived the fees for even dumber reasons ( I did simply forget).
Or ask RF to pay. They are also friendly and might do that.
It’s quite shocking that the country’s second-largest bank still has such poor digital processes. This isn’t new, they consistently rank low(er) in online services.
I’ll definitely ask them to cover the fees. The issue is clearly on their side and tied to an outdated process you’re not responsible for.
