He pledged at least to destroy his coins (17k or so). The issue with that: rn there is no safe way to destroy bitcoin (as far I know). One day the quantum stuff will be able to “grab” that coins (satoshi’s or all dormant coins as well) unless transferred to quantum proof addresses which have to be invented and implemented yet.
lol… “The S&P 500 is as volatile as bitcoin now”

Destroying the coins sounds like something that could be gross negligence and make you personally liable in bankruptcy I’d think.
The MSTR coins yes, but his private coins. Don’t think it’s illegal…
You could take a point that is not on the secp256k1 curve and treat this as the private key and then generate a bitcoin address from this.
Then even with a magical computer that could reverse RIPEMD-160 and can crack ECDLP, the bitcoin protocol wouldn’t allow you to spend these bitcoins as it would fail CHECKSIG.
JP Morgan will “allow” clients (aka JP kids ) to trade Bitcoin. Probably avoiding the Kodak moment… not so much SNB: “SNB’s Chairman Schlegel: There is currently no alternative to US Treasuries.”
Before everyone starts posting about new ATH for Bitcoin: in Swiss franks it is still more than 8% below January peak.
yes, and not 100k CHF yet…
Let’s talk about Japan’s 30Y bond yields… No, just kidding.
New Bitcoin ATH in USD
In CHF, not yet.
Send them to Satoshi‘s adress. The assumption is that his keys are long gone. If not and Satoshi all off a sudden starts to sell BTC - well then, BTC will be dead and worthless. So, job done.
Well, that was the issue in the first place. Old addresses are not quantum proof. @PhilMongoose said it right, how to do it properly.
All said, I think that after so many years of ups & downs , it seems that BTC has established itself as a potential option where people continue to invest or remain invested. Whatever their reason might be.
I would say it would be there for rest of our lives and beyond. Whatever the price would be.
A little feedback.
Since March 3, 2025, I’ve been investing CHF 100 in Bitcoin every Monday (auto-invest). Its price on March 3 was CHF 84,846.30. In all, I’ve invested CHF 1,400 (add two more purchases of CHF 100; that’s CHF 500 per month).
To date, I’m up 17.4% with a gain of CHF 243.80. It’s not much, but it’s never too late to start.
I should point out that I’ve been accumulating Bitcoin and other cryptos since 2021 (which I’ll sell to buy Bitcoin when the time is right). Overall, my cryptos represent only 5% of my total wealth, but I don’t think I’d mind increasing that ratio.
thanks for sharing. This will also be my approach, going ahead.
What platform are you using to buy BTC?
Does it really make sense to do it so frequently for such small amounts?
Have you checked how much of it gets eaten up by fees?
I’d rather do monthly or even quarterly purchases, of larger volumes.
From May 2021 until March 2025, I used SwissBorg as my cryptocurrency trading platform. They’re not the cheapest, but I was looking for a Swiss platform. My only regret is that I bought their in-house token. Today, I’m waiting until I’m in the black to resell it.
Since March 2025, I’ve been using Relai after hearing about it from @stojano. Fees are 0.9% per transaction (with a referral code, otherwise it’s 1%) and every month it’s possible to buy CHF 100 worth of BTC for free. Once again, I’m looking for a Swiss platform, as I don’t trust platforms like Binance, where you don’t really know where the head office is located or where the place of jurisdiction and applicable law are. Finally, since 2024, I’ve only been interested in buying BTC. I intend to resell the cryptos I have on SwissBorg as soon as possible, probably after a small bullrun to convert them into BTC.
Before implementing this strategy, I was making monthly investments. Since the price of BTC changes rapidly, I found that I could achieve a better average price by buying on a weekly basis. I haven’t noticed any difference in costs between buying weekly and monthly. Overall, crypto fees are quickly forgotten when the market is favorable, as it is at the moment. There may be ways to optimize, but this strategy allows me to “sleep well,” as they say.
Just consolidate your utxos from time to time when the mempool is favorable.
Are we entering the banana phase?
