I’m actually a big proponent of no cameras on business calls: it lowers the strain on the internet connection, so helps people working from home and using lesser quality connections to not feel pressured into buying a more expensive plan (and using their mobile network whenever they want to work from anywhere) and it frees resources for screen sharing and discussing actual business documents.
Colored letters are fine by me, there are not that many doubles/triples and as @Brndete points out, the users who do have different enough writing styles/ideas that I’m startled enough when reading the message if I make the wrong assumption on who is writing it and can course correct by actually reading the pseudo of the writer.
The opposite position is “don’t be like a student who starts the exercises without reading the instruction.” Of course, I’m not a moderator and don’t have to quickly parse a ton of messages for the purpose of checking there’s nothing wrong in them so our uses and needs differ.
Is it bothering anyone else that the avatar for Dr. PI is not a Pi symbol?!

oh! I was wondering too… I am learning Japanese Kanji 元 for “origin”. I had not idea is the sign of yuan also.
Perhaps the Chinese think money is the origin of all evil?
