Neon-bank fee free worldwide

I have accounts with Revolut, Zak, Yuh and neon. In the past, I used Zak, but then they removed the Zak deal option end of last year, which made it less interesting to me. Also eBill and transaction signing is not implemented in a user friendly way. Switched over to Yuh, it provides all I need for Swiss usage: fast processing of payments, no fees, good eBill integration, Twint, good interest rates compared to Zak and neon. For international usage, I still use Revolut.

Neon does not look that trustworthy anymore to me - looks to me like they are really not able to scale up their IT systems to the usage, and invest more money in marketing than IT. I will for sure not relay anymore on their services, and also not recommend it anymore to friends.

Btw, YUH has a summer referral bonus of CHF ~70.- if you know anybody who already has a Yuh account. Feel free to DM me if you do not know anybody with a Yuh account.

I’m also super disappointed with Neon. Thanks God they are only handling the UI and not the banking itself.

As for Yuh

  • how are the exchange rates (buying stuff on Amazon/eBay)?
  • does TWINT work well (not like neon’s UBS-sharing)?
  • do they have a categorization engine for spending and income?

how are the exchange rates (buying stuff on Amazon/eBay)?

I do not use Yuh for these cases; I think they charge 0.95% fees there. I still use Revolut for international / on-CHF payments.

does TWINT work well (not like neon’s UBS-sharing)?

Yes, they recently launched their own Twint app.

do they have a categorization engine for spending and income?

Not sure about that, I do not use such a thing. Haven’t noticed anything in that direction.

Just letting out some frustration, I had a time sensitive wire transfer I needed to perform yesterday.

Had no problem performing a (non-time sensitive) transfer yesterday.

Have you updated the app? There was an issue with the previous one.
No issues yesterday as well…

There is/was no update with the app fo me. The app worked fine two hours later. Unfortunately just not when I needed it.

This is why one always should have two accounts and both of them have some cash to cover the main costs.

All my payments through neon worked, this was only a log-in issue.

New issue with the updated app. Like, what the hell seriously.

Worked for me but the app was a bit slow (had to wait for ~10-15 seconds when I clicked to make the payment until it asked me for the code…)

worked for me as well, 2 minutes later and by waiting 10-15 seconds as you said.
the backend must be sweating blood in there…

I am tolerant with neon as they are a small fintech.

I use it in vacation with a N26 card as backup.

How long usually does it take to transfer money from bank to Neon? I started my first “top up” last Friday and my Neon is still 0 balance. :upside_down_face:

In my case, if I put an order before 9h30, my money will be in my neon account before 12h00 on the same day.

hmm. When you do the transfer, did you put any special note?

Hmm, I put a special note like “Transfer”. That’s it. Maybe give them a call?

I did. They ask me to wait. I’ll see tmr. Thanks!

Another payday, another day of issues with Neon.

I am having that same issue today

For those who also received an email from Neon earlier this week about the saved Forex fees, it contains a link to an exclusive partner offer from Yallo (which I wanted to check out), but the link appears to be broken for me. Is it just me or everyone else?

The offer is also available in the Neon app under “Benefits” → “Leisure” → “yallo”. Not a bad offer, but there are usually better Black Friday deals for yallo.
