Mustachian phone plan

… is there a way to find out, what national provider per country yallo is working with regarding data roaming within Europe?

Digitec connect is much cheaper. If you are 5 people that use digitec connect, you can basically get unlimited traffic in Switzerland plus 1 GB in Europe for less than 10 chf per month.

Should be the same as Sunrise i guess, as Yallo is a Sunrise owned company.

Only when it’s discounted right ?

Yes, but they do that quite often.

15 chf is easy, less than 10 chf is less frequent.

… and there is a provider list for Sunrise roaming partners? can’t find anything…

I’ve took the Christmas Deal from Digitec Connect which was 240 CHF for all unlimited in Switzerland with 1 GB of data in Europe and USA. And I guess that this kind of offer will be available several time during the year

It is as Mr @xorfish said.

OK so 20 per month. Is the discount lifetime or 1 year only ?

Which country are you interested in ?

It is only for 12 months. In my case it will be from 25th march 2021 to 25th march 2022  (as the first month with digitec connect is free in order to try it. So I guess that this month of try is also unlimited.

… as I travel a lot: all of Europe

Probably wrong. Some people on this forum had issues (wrong caller Id, bad quality), which probably means that Sunrise/Yallo participate in some kind of “bandwidth market” where they just get the cheapest offer, at least for yallo.

… those are exactly my concerns: having “unlimited” roaming but only with the cheapest partners with no coverage is worth… zero

fun thing is: sunrise is also offering unlimited roaming, but for 10 CHF less than Yallo: https://www.sunrise.ch/en/residential/mobile/freedom/options/roaming/travel-data.html (29.90 CHF vs. 40 CHF)

I was talking about calling abroad. Roaming is a bit different since there aren’t many cell phone providers. I think they will probably use the same providers Sunrise uses, with just less bandwidth/priority.

After calling the sunrise support: “One can connect to whatever net is available within Europe, as Sunrise partners with all providers…”

As the support person was quite uncertain of their own products / combination with roaming options, I’m not sure on how reliable this info is - can anyone confirm their experience regarding (data) roaming partners within Europe? Are there networks, one can not connect to with a Sunrise subscription?

In the positive case, the following deal is quite good: For 38.90 CHF per month you get unlimited data in CH (2 Mbit/s) and unlimited data within Europe (speed capped after 40 GB):

Sounds like B.S.
When you go abroad, you usually see the name of the provider it connects to. Now I’ve never managed to travel so much that at some point that provider isn’t available, but I believe they don’t have that kind of contracts in place. They pick one provider per country IMHO.

… were my exact same thoughts.

Upon bad reception I sometimes try to select a provider manually (using the three.uk SIM-Card mentioned above), some do work, some don’t (message: “forbidden”).
It’s hard to believe with a Sunrise contract, all providers within Europe let you connect and roam with them…

… anyone with some experience?

Wasn’t my experience, iirc I could definitely switch between providers when I was in France (and also US if I remember well).

Edit: doesn’t mean they all work, but the major ones did.

Cool. It means that they can say what OP said, even if in some (most?) countries they might have just 1 partner.
