Mustachian phone plan

Well, that’s not a catch. That’s what the product is intended for.

That‘s why it‘s brilliant that they‘re offering e-sim. I‘m keeping my old phone number with a prepaid sim for voice.

Oh, that’s smart…

Pure mustachianity of the highest grade!

How much do you pay on average for the prepaid?

I‘m currently with Salt, there a call up to an hour is 49 Rappen. Might keep it there after my contract runs out. Rarely call anyways, so maybe 3-4 calls a month = CHF 1-2. Not worth the effort to move it for that amount.

Aldi is on sunrise. I can’t remember ever thinking “that network sucks, I wish I was still on Swisscom”

Which VoIP provider do you use? Mine is very North America centric but I haven’t found a well priced, knowledgeable provider that’s more EU focused.

I researched this for a bit for my parents for a secondary residence.

The only free internet tv service with no limitations is actually Swisscom blue tv. Zattoo has a 30 hours per month limit on the free account.

But all these free services limit the quality of transmissions - the free account will stream only at 720p. In order to make it usable for my parents, I had to either buy a new smarter TV with apps or buy an used apple tv for 80 bucks. I did the second, and installed the blue tv app on it with a free account.

Now free mobile internet may have limitations as well - just read the small print. For my parents I’ve bought a 4g router with a sunrise prepaid mobile abo. For 2 chf /24 hours they get unlimited speed and data (ofc the router limits it to like 150 Mb, but in that region they get 45 only anyway).
Other mobile abo may throttle you, so again read the fine print.

So they are seldom there , and when they are they just pay 2 chf per 24 hours internet, no other cost for tv etc. For this situation was difficult to do better.

I use exclusively Betamax providers as VOIP. Had quite good experiences with them the last few years. I have a few accounts with different providers, also depending on where I want to call. I use their Android-apps which are technically all the same, just different names. You can get a list of the actual prices here: Betamax comparison for all Countries - Betamax voip call and SMS Rates Comparison.

15 Frs/month for unlimited phone+data in Switzerland. Throttling could happen but I would guess it is like yallo around 50Gb (could be wrong). Don’t know if the offer will still be valid for the next years or if it gets back to original price. Sunrise network.
Edit: got the confirmation it is valid only one year and then you can change, suspend or delete the subscription.

Thank you!

A question to everyone: how long it typically takes to transfer an existing phone number?

Many thanks!

Depends on your contract but usually 2 months for the month end if your contract is over.

Sorry, let me reformulate my question. How long the phone number will be not available during the provider’s change?

I see, thank you

I am in, I guess. Won’t save that much on telecom in Switzerland, my main motivation is free roaming data.

Did you find a decently priced provider with roaming?

I suppose you mean data roaming?

Yallo.
Constantly have promotions (as of course now too for halloween), and I am using the “fat plus” package (3gb, 300min roam) for 27chf.

I received digitec connect SIM card, now waiting for my phone number to be transferred.

I don’t care about calls roaming and hardly travel further than Europe, so this deal is good for me.

Digitec Connect has 1GB of roaming.

Not with roaming but Wingo Swiss (everything flat in Switzerland) is availabe for 19.95 instead the usual 24 CHF.

Did you see this offer from TalkTalk? 11 CHF for CH unlimited (40GB data on 5G, Sunrise network), and 1GB data roaming…
The only thing is the 24 month bounded contract. But the price doesn’t change after 24 months according to the terms and conditions.
