Migros CC: Migros is leaving Cembra soon

I did sign up on the new Certo One and got it 2-3 days later and worked perfectly.

Same experience but my old Cumulus Mastercard is still working. It should stop by the end of August since thatā€™s its normal term. I havenā€™t moved a finger yet, Cembra just sent me the new card by default (which is what they had announced they would do but still feels a bit unwelcome to me since I havenā€™t signed any paperwork for that specific card and would rather have had a more seamless experience switching to either a Certo One! card or not getting a new card upon termination of my old one).

I also did not hear back. But I am waiting to cancel my Cumulus credit card. I did not want to be stuck without a credit card. This could impact my credit limit, but if thatā€™s the case, I will ask to increase it once my Cumulus is canceled.

I did a new registration as I havenā€™t register to the Cumulus and I am also waiting for their reply.
I bet they must have a huge backlog to sort during summer holidays!

Thanks for this thread.
I didnā€™t lift a finger as a Cembra Cumulus Mastercard customer and was sent the new Certo World card, both primary and secondary in the post.
Once I added them to the Apple Wallet they sent me a notification that the new card is now usable.
I paid with it 20 minutes later, so totally happy camper so far.

But if I under correctly, I should give this back and order the Certo One for a more ideal domestic setup? Iā€™m reluctant to order yet another card with SwissCard AMEX just to save the odd 1% here and there and the need to remember what to use when.

For foreign transactions Iā€™m already having neon, so all good there.

Iā€™ll just need a real CC for reservations, etc.

Now that I have a Mastercard Prepaid with Neon and a real Mastercard with Cembra (and still a Mastercard debit with PostFinance) - is it wise to diversify with any type of VISA card as well? Can it happen that MC is not accepted somewhere where otherwise VISA would be accepted?

Also: what does the ā€œbest price guaranteeā€ mean in practice?

Also: where do I change the ā€œ3 preferred vendorā€ in Certo World? I usually spend very little with the SBB and that is always through FAIRTIQ.

You can only choose the vendors with the Certo One card and not with the Certo World cards as far as I understood it.

That is right. You can only choose the vendors with the Certo One. That is also why people recommend it, because of the flexibility to choose from whom you want the 1% back .

Iā€™m quite surprised that nobody mentioned how bad is the Cembra app/website compared to Viseca which manages the cumulus.

Yes, Certo One has better Cashback than the cumulus but:

  • Cumulus has better insurance
  • Cumulus has a better app and web portal
  • E-bill
  • Lower currency exchange fees

Cumulus also supports Google Pay.

I value my time more than the few hundred CHF Cashback. Therefore I have chosen to go with the new Cumulus, because I find absurd how bad the Cembra system is (bad website, no ebillā€¦).

What time are you talking about? It takes me less than a minute to open the bill, scan the QR code and pay. Letā€™s say 15 minutes a year and I expect to make around 150-200 CHF in cashback a year, so well worth it for me.

I donā€™t get why people care so much about the website/app. The app shows my transactions and my balance, what else do you need?

I have wasted enough time with Cembra, whether on their eLogin to pay bills, on the phone with hard to reach support, and via registered mail, that I no longer consider their products at all. Iā€™m not going to go into the reasons or topics of the exchanges Iā€™ve had with them here.

They have definitely lost me as a customer.

Everyone has to find the right shoe, and as each foot is different, there is something for every taste and every color.

superdumb question: How do you scan a QR code from an app if the invoice is on a pdf on the same phone? Postfinance allow to upload stuff on their website. Not sure about their or other apps

I open the bill from a desktop once a month when I anyway update my expenses, etc.

Has any of you complaining about no ebill continuously ever heard of LSV?

I usually share the PDFs to ā€˜Note to selfā€™ on Signal/Telegram and then open them on my laptop to be able to scan them. Not sure it is the best superdumb solution though.

Itā€™s not the same, see above.

And scan with an app on my smartphone. Didnā€™t try hard enough to find PDF upload function though (Raiffeisen E-Banking).

You seem to have a very strong opinion on almost every single topic on this forum, yet very limited understanding of majority of itā€¦ but this has been expressed by many before me

You can in fact very easily control when the LSV is charged by getting your statement date agreed - from the moment you get the statement the LSV is almost always charged from your account X business days afterwards (works both for Cembra as well as Swisscard)

Patron is right here though. LSV is really very archaic.

Like I have to send and receive multiple letters and/or go to the bank in person to set it up. In what year are we living!?

And I also donā€™t like the feeling of giving some private company basically free access to my bank account, without any simple way to control it.

I donā€™t even understand why itā€™s so complicated on the banks side. Why canā€™t it be some function in my eBanking that I can fill out and then it triggers a paper mail to Cembra if that is really necessary? How is sending a letter with my request and a signature safer than my fricking eBanking where I already have access to all my money!?

How is having all fully automated with LSV (no need to approve, etc.) anything is stone age?
