Interactive Brokers Q&A [2025]

I was able to enter ticket and get my query resolved via Web

Uh that’s weird, wonder what’s wrong for me… I tried on two different devices so I assume it’s not cookie or similar.

Same here. Almost one week since payment day and still waiting for the capital gain part. Has it ever taken them so long to pay out the CHSPI distribution?

… Was finally paid in full on 24 July.

To those on Swissquote or Saxo: when did you receive the recent distribution of CHSPI?

FWIW: On findependent I received them on 18.07. and 21.07.

Does the value date of that distribution at least match the payment date?

(if not, you should have reason to complain)

The report shows only one ā€˜date’ (corresponds to the payment date):

Oh, I think you would need the individual IBKR payment report?

I have never actually looked at or seen one for IBKR, but even SQ does make those payment reports available (which then include the value date for the respective payment).

Edit: I fiddled around a bit with custom reports but couldn’t generate one that includes what I know as the value date. I still presume that what IBKR calls the pay date is the value date and that if a payment arrives late it is backdated accounting wise in your cash account.

Has anybody experienced delays when moving funds from your bank to IBKR?
Last Friday I initiated a same day transfer from Postfinance to IBKR, but as of today nothing has been credited.
It was the first time I used the swiss QR to file the transfer, but I double checked and all details are OK.
As good measure, I added a PDF of the payment confirmation to the transfer status page.

How long do I have to wait before panicking ? Usually, the average transfer time for local payments is 1 business day.

Don’t panic, I would wait another day atleast.

I did the same on Friday and the money was credited to my IBKR account at 08:40 today, but I sent it from a different institution, not PostFinance.

Interesting enough, an internal wise transfer takes 2 days while a normal wire (even from wise) is usually there the same or the next day. I suppose tonight or tomorrow the money will be available. At what time did you initiate the transfer?

So I think there’s still some money missing from the latest dividend payment, unless I’m misunderstanding something.

The situation:

  • CHDVD had a payout on July 17, according to the iShares website, of CHF 0.74.
  • According to ICTax, these CHF 0.74 consisted of
    • CHF 0.26 taxable dividends,
    • CHF 0.48 income-tax-free capital gains
  • At some point last week, 65% of the CHF 0.26 taxable dividends appeared in my IBKR cash account, but the other part is still missing.
  • According to ā€œChange in Dividend Accrualsā€ section in the IBKR activity statement, both parts are listed twice, with the code ā€œPoā€ and ā€œReā€ each, with a total sum of CHF 0, and it has been this way for about a week now.
    • ā€œPoā€ means posted, so credited to the account
    • ā€œReā€ means reversal, which happenes either when the dividends are paid out in cash or if they made a mistake. So not helpful in finding out which of the two it was.

Is this normal? Does it take a bit longer, because it’s capital gains without 35% WHT? Or would you write support by now?

After over 10 days, I’d probably just contact support.

its interesting the payment from ERRES took just 24 hours at IBKR. I think there might be some backend work involved here. I would recommend to connect with IB.

Thanks everybody. Have contacted support.

IBKR has now updated their table, clarifying the limit starts from 100K.

I’m always surprised at how quickly it goes from Raiffeisen to IBKR.

Sometimes the notification emails from Raiffeisen and IBKR arrive at the same minute:

Example

Email from Raiffeisen:

Bildschirmfoto 2025-07-28 um 14.37.47

Email from IBKR:

Bildschirmfoto 2025-07-28 um 14.38.11

Sometimes the money even arrives at IBKR before Raiffensen sends me the confirmation:

Example

E-Mail from IBKR:

Bildschirmfoto 2025-07-28 um 14.42.11

E-Mail from Raiffeisen:

Bildschirmfoto 2025-07-28 um 14.41.55

I filed the order on the 25th between 11:00 and 12:00 and I requested the same day transfer.
The order was executed the same day, as per payment confirmation.

Did you make sure your account number (Uxxx) is included in the subject line?

I did that mistake a couple years back. Not only did it cause delays, but somehow the money was converted to GBP, then converted back and returned to me. Don’t remember the amount, but it was some 50 or 100 CHF lost due to big bank’s exchange fees.

My standard wire is typically credited the same day. I do ā€œpre-announceā€ my transfers, but I’m not sure that makes a difference these days.
Example: Transfer today, time stamp in mail 6:xx am (well it’s 0:xx EST), mail received 1 pm.

A funny story about same-day transfer (ā€œInstant Paymentā€): I used this feature last year to pay my municipal taxes. The feature had only been available for less than two weeks, so it was still new. My municipality was so confused that they recorded my tax payment, the amount for the whole year, twice*. I felt guilty all week, wondering whether I should say something or just pretend I didn’t know anything. Anyway, they eventually noticed and corrected it without any comment.

Did you include your IBKR number and your first and last name in the payment message?

*Of course, it could be a coincidence, but I assumed that the municipality had made a mistake due instant payment.
