Probably the catch is that the 1.65% interest is limited to 1 year after that you “only” have an interest rate of 0.65% if I understand correctly.
Yes. Not that much of a catch to me, I’d just move the money elsewhere afterwards.
That’s possible anytime if you have less than 50k CHF as you can only move out 50k CHF per calendar year else you will have to pay a 2% “fine” and wait 6 months if I am not mistaken.
Should not withdraw more than 20k, else you’ll loose your bonus interest 1%
Der Zinsbonus entfällt für die gesamte Bonusperiode bei:
- Rückzügen, die pro Bonusperiode höher als 20 000 CHF sind;
- Betragskündigungen mit Bezugsdatum innert 180 Tagen nach Ende der Bonusperiode.
Yep, but only for >20k I understand, correct?
I have around 200k in cash. I would like to have this cash somehow available, because I would like to invest it (1) in case I find a real estate opportunity abroad with a big discount price or (2) in index funds if market crash hard.
I am investing my new savings every month, but that piled cash I would like to keep it handy.
Were I could park it in a not very complicated way but somehow profitable? thanks
You can open a couple of savings acounts with WIR, Cler and other top offerings.
They can give you 1.5-1.8% p.a.
Their “no-announcement” withdrawals range from 20-50k (which could be enough for your market timing; and you could announce a bit in advance for the rest if that RE opportunity comes).
(But this is off topic)
Got an ad for Savings account plus Viac | Bank WIR from viac. (1.8% for ~one year)
Suppose i have 50k that i want to deposit with them and withdraw in December. Could I deposit this money now, then immediately give my 6 month notice of withdrawal, and still get the 1.8% interest for those 6 months?
I couldn’t really understand from the website description what happens to the interest after notice of withdrawal has happened but before the money is given back.
I feel a bit dumb asking this but, how do you actually open a WIR Savings Account?
I have tried to navigate their website but can’t find an option to do so online.
Do they have an app? Do you need to go into one of their agencies?
Yeah unfortunately old school only
Neon:
As of July 1st, 2023, you will get significantly more interest:
- 0.9% on your Spaces for deposits of up to 25’000 CHF
- 0.65% on your Spaces for deposits from 25’000 CHF upward
Monthly withdrawal limit as of July 1st: 50’000 CHF
P.S. Am I right to assume that there are no limits to transfers between spaces and the main account?
I’m afraid not, regarding the limits to transfers.
How much money can I move at a time?
50’000 CHF per day. But be careful: Transfers to and from Spaces are considered normal payments. You can therefore transfer e.g. 25’000 CHF to a Space and then 25’000 CHF back again, but then you cannot trigger any further payments on the same day (nor pay any further bills), because you can only trigger a total of 50’000 CHF per day in payments on your account. On the next day, 50’000 CHF are possible again
Very nice, I’ve put a reminder on my agenda for June 30. Love the interest rate competition that has come up, albeight little
Yuh needs to catch up otherwise I’m going to transfer
yuh is offering their own special cashback in coins. But honestly I’m not sure it works 'cause I don’t see where they go.
The Yuh cashback is not really worth it. Like 1-2 cents per transaction (independent of the amount).
Im purely have it to park my cash short term. Currently 0.75% until 25k and 0.5% above.
Yuh’s still best option without withdrawal limits, isn’t it? Also, I’ve earned 2 Fr. on their Coin so far
BTW, it’s very well hidden, but transfers from Cler Sparkonto plus are 3 Fr., including e-banking. WIR charges 2 Fr. (and 15 Fr. to cancel account).
You really need to read every single letter of the fee document, no matter how small it’s printed and whether it’s in a footnote or not
Got this message from Neon today:
