I’ve run into many situations where AMEX isn’t accepted. It’s not the embodiment of minimalism to have the AMEX and a fallback VISA in addition to a card (neon) for purchases abroad.
I havent. Paying the fee once (and now changing to other creditcard) is way cheaper than paying for the support call.
To add to Wolverine’s comment, I don’t like the lack of e-bill from Certo (unless they changed it by now). LSV might be an alternative, I know I would forget to pay the QR bill occasionally which would lead to 30CHF fine. Personally, I only wish Amex would be accepted at Lidl and Aldi. So far most places accepted Amex.
I use LSV and almost always lay the fees upfront anyways. But LSV works as a backup in case I forget
But Sunrise charges you for that payment method, no?
Nope, amazingly it does not!
Are you sure about this? I changed over to eBills around half a year ago or so, after I noticed the Sunrise website telling me there would be extra charges for paying with Amex
Same for me, it used to be free now it’s not.
Indeed. Something that used to be free that is no longer free. Apologies for the dated advice.
The first time they charged a 2.5% foreign transaction fee was September. I was very cautious at the start when i set up my swisscard AMEX to pay for spotify to see if they would charge this fee. Which they did not then.
There is also no visible change in the invoice statement of spotify. There you can see that the supplier address was always Stockholm, the address did not change and that they have a Swiss VAT number.
This looks like this is a conscious decision of Swisscard to grab some fees, which they previously did not.
As this is not a business practice I can tolerate. So I just changed the payment info to another card as well.
Make sure to change the card for your actual premium plan in Spotify. I made the mistake in replacing the payment card in Spotify’s settings without realizing that this doesnt automatically change/update the card used for the ongoing plan.
Now they got me again with the October fees.
Damn, and well hidden in the swisscard app behind „CHF“, thanks for sharing, will move spotify back to Revolut.
Eh, there surely is some ombudsman you can bother them with. Use some of your free time to burn their resources. If just one manager or lawyer has to write an email, they will have lost money on mistreating you.
No charges for cards of Viseca, so far.
I ve had issues paying at Migros using the amex recently, do you guys know whether they stopped supporting it ? Or is it just me ?
@HoiZame Migros (ZH) with Amex works for me, tested on 23.10.2024 ~18:00
tbh 100% of the credit cards I’ve checked have that clause about foreign company payments, even in CHF.
@ma0 Migros Cumulus Creditcard has none.
And that was my main criteria when picking a card, I really hate the unpredictable surcharge when buying stuff online.
