In figures, operating revenues jumped in 2025 from CHF 115,000 to CHF 928,000, but still remain below one million francs in revenue, while operating expenses amount to CHF 24.5 million
They need to 24 times more revenue…
After the 4-6th email in a month where they try to sell me something, I think it’s time to close my account.
I just have a feeling the neobank market is now too tight.
Yuh won the neo-bank war in switzerland, maybe if revolut expand their offer with ebill, twint and a real personnal swiss iban they have a shot, but i don’t see someone take the cake form yuh anytime soon.
Yuh and Alpian are no on same game, but Alpian as private bank needs people to use their invest part not only as a simple bank account…that only the way to survive.
I am still wondering what they will do with their Swissquoins. They hinted it would be publicly listed some time back but never moved ahead, now they haven’t top up their reserve since mid-March…
What about Neon?
Having switched from Neon to Yuh lately, I still prefer Neon for ease of use (and less distraction).
I get the feeling that the days when every startup wanted to do something with blockchain and tokens are over. My bet: It’s going to disappear (and replaced by AI, because it’s the new trend).
I don’t like Neon. the UI is really bad compared to Yuh and when i was using it every 25 the app was buggy.
Yuh si smooth, the design is good, they have twint, ebill etc.. and i don’t invest with it.
It’s just overall a better product than Neon for my taste
Somehow it feels like Alpian might survive.
Trying not to stray away from the topic too much
We agree to disagree. ![]()
Having switched from Neon to Yuh as my daily account (due to Neon introducing fees, including for withdrawals) only a short while ago, I’m going to reserve judgement for the time being.
Neon is less annoying with app updates.
I find Neon’s choice of font and size easier to read.
When I initiate a Swiss transfers, Yuh fits (without scrolling/swiping) 5 existing beneficiaries as suggestions on a small phone screen - while Neon has 9.
Neon has “Card” settings on the home screen - while Yuh has “Play Bday Rush”:
I have opened a new thread on the topic of best neo banks:
Also the bold text on pdfs? I hate it.
Speaking about Neon? It is down.
I am using Neon though. The biggest thing I remember I didn’t like on Yuh was that all their statements were SQ-like. It made Yuh look like a whitelabel-ed service on top of SQ.
I wonder if they’ll tell me the same thing (filed a ticket with them about this yesterday).
I also asked Alpian, and they told me the transfer needs to be made a bit different than what IBKR tells you to. IBRK gives you a virtual account number, consisting of a bunch of digits, followed by your customer number (U and 8 digits). It’s seems the latter part is not really supported by Alpian and you’re supposed to make the transfer just to the account number that is before the Uxxxxxxxx part.
They also seem to indicate that you only need to give your IBKR Account number in the ‘payment reason’ field (just asked back if that’s really the case as IBKR tells you to follow up your account number with a slash and then the name they have on record).
Either way.. while the additional confirmation step is annoying (3 transfers so far.. once I even had to make twice), the positive is that the whole things costs you nothing. Zero point Zero. And the whole amount arrives at IBKR. Whereas a transfer of 10k USD from PF ended up at 9’988 (so $12 disappeared somewhere), plus the PF transfer fee ($2.56.. which got my account in the red even though my accounts don’t permit overdrafts - not the first time I had to complain about this).
So, if you have an USD transfer pending, maybe try what Alpian suggested. I’ll let you know if the instructions work for me when I make my next transfer (could be some time though).
I actually don’t get a Uxxx number for transfer. I just get an IBKR account on IB name and I need to put my account number in reference
Are you sure? The number they give me for inbound USD transfers has 8 digits, then an U and then another digits. The u and the latter 8 digits are actually my account number at IBKR. And the same number then has to go to the payment reference field. It’s easy to miss - if Alpian hadn’t told me, I would’ve never noticed since I just copied & pasted the information from IBKR.
Interesting
On IBKR do you normally ask for instructions for wire transfers or ACH transfer? Maybe that is the difference
My instructions are for Wire transfer which comes with following info
I’m doing ACH transfers. Doesn’t wire always cost money?
from Alpian to IBKR , wire is free
I assumed I can’t do ACH because I don’t have account in US
Ahh, maybe Alpian is referring to wire Transfer with their instructions. Somehow I ended up with ACH Reading the conditions and limitations IBKR mentions when declaring the Transfer.
ACH is with Citibank
