Alpian - New Private Banking Fintech in Switzerland

How does it work the 100chf cashback for qoqa? Does it mean I can buy stuff <100chf for free? Lately I didn’t see anything interesting there…

I just find weird the “No commission” Ad on their homepage and the 0.2% exchange fee somewhere else.
They mean you should never exchange money and just pay from the main account and get the visa exchange… good enough. Who exchange money anyway? To withdraw? Then another 2-5chf on top of it.

Who exchange money?

1, if you want to travel and want to already have Euros in your account

  1. If you want to buy ETFs trading on Swissquote in Euro or USD but you don’t like SQ forex fees

  2. If you want to withdraw in cash (bank notes)

  3. If you simply like to have currency you need before you spend it online or transfer to an international account

I think there is no fees for #1, #2 or #4
Only cash withdrawal from ATM should have fees.

Isn’t it?

As far as I know 0.2% commission is best available to retail investors. Only IBKR is cheaper

I was mainly talking about Swiss banks. But I didn’t check WillBe to be honest.

5 posts were merged into an existing topic: WIR Bank TOP package

WillBe doesn’t offer credit cards, nor e-bill, so not really a replacement for neobanks or regular banks. But nice place to park your money (euro or CHF) or to use their investment tool (not sure it’s interesting for this forum’s public).

sheesh. I wanted to take that offer but unfortunately c’est terminee

It seems you’re not really used to QoQa offers :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But if you really want it, referral codes can be found to get at least 50% of the QoQa offer…

I’m interested by the referral codes if you can tell me where to find them

In google.

oh… that was a surprise. ATM cost 2chf. It’s stated that you have to activate the card at ATM and make some transaction. The only possibility would be a withdrawal. I withdraw 20chf on Postomat for 2CHF. :rage:
Well, for 100+100 bonus and cashback I’ll survive that.

You could also pay at a shop with the card to activate thei contactless option.

Changing the card’s PIN at an ATM without making a transaction is usually enough to activate the card.

I’ve found a page from Alpian regarding FX with some headache inducing tables. It seems they are better than revolut

I just wonder how they calculated them. The Alpian value is surely without the 2% surcharger though.

From the link:
This study focuses solely on the exchange rate and does not take into account additional fees such as transfer fees or correspondent banks fees. It is also worth noting that FX rates were only streamed during weekdays.

As I guess we can all use a good laugh, I’ve got this gem from Alpian in my inbox today (in French, sorry):

Title: “Payez-vous trop pour vos investissements” (loose translation: “Do you pay too much for your investments?)”

Content of the e-mail without the marketing game at the end

Comprendre les frais d’investissement

Bonjour Wolverine,

Les frais d’investissement… un sujet épineux pour de nombreux services peu transparents.

Ils peuvent prendre plusieurs formes:

  • Frais de gestion annuels
  • Transactions
  • Clôture de portefeuille
  • Frais de garde
  • Et bien d’autres encore…

Cela a-t-il un impact? OUI.

While it raises awareness toward the various fees encountered when dealing with a broker/asset management firm, it also has this (loosely translated by myself):

By my understanding, the related study would be this one, that studied only legacy asset management banks + Alpian: Asset Management Cost Comparison - moneyland.ch
To me, it doesn’t seem to even conclude that Alpian is the absolute cheapest regarding asset management costs.

@Daniel is Alpian’s claim quoted above really the conclusion reached by moneyland and has the title of “the cheapest asset manager in Switzerland” really been awarded to them?

This email goes beyond the realm of misleading and into conscious misrepresentation in my opinion…

Regarding Alpian, although they claim to offer free management for traditional banking operations, registration fees still apply. I noticed these fees on my account, even though my only transfer in December was a CHF-to-CHF transaction between two Swiss accounts, made during the week.

To uncover these fees? You have to dig through the contractual terms, as they are not clearly mentioned in the fee summary on their website. Here is an excerpt from the terms and conditions:

  1. Final provisions
    12.1. Fees
We may levy fees for services rendered in connection with payment transactions (execution of Payment Instructions, processing of incoming payments, and currency conversions), which are based on our Services and Fees Brochure [My Profile > Account conditions > Services and Fees Brochure]. We are entitled to debit such fees directly from your account. Alpian reserves the right to amend the Services and Fees Brochure at any time and without notice. Any amendment to our Services and Fees Brochure is made available to you by appropriate means. In case of objection, you shall be free to terminate the affected service with immediate effect, unless otherwise agreed with us.

I have no trust in this bank, and their customer service is the worst I’ve ever encountered. This is yet another reason to close my account.

@Dino_Alpian Can you tell us more ?

Alpian has adjusted its pricing as of January 1, 2025. The metal debit card, as well as its renewal, is now priced at CHF 60.- : https://a.storyblok.com/f/123585/x/8829cd1b6b/fees_alpian_2025_en.pdf.

As you correctly noted, Alpian only has exceptionally low costs in the comparison of conventional asset management services. Alpian was included in this study due to certain criteria being met (personal consultation, etc.). That is the study that Alpian is referencing. It would be more correct to say that Alpian was among the cheapest in this study (Sparkasse Schwyz was the cheapest across all models).

Currently moneyland.ch still analyzes conventional asset management services and robo advisors separately, though that will change as the lines grow increasingly blurred.

You can find the most recent study of Swiss robo advisors here:
