Regarding Alpian, although they claim to offer free management for traditional banking operations, registration fees still apply. I noticed these fees on my account, even though my only transfer in December was a CHF-to-CHF transaction between two Swiss accounts, made during the week.
To uncover these fees? You have to dig through the contractual terms, as they are not clearly mentioned in the fee summary on their website. Here is an excerpt from the terms and conditions:
Final provisions
12.1. Fees
We may levy fees for services rendered in connection with payment transactions (execution of Payment Instructions, processing of incoming payments, and currency conversions), which are based on our Services and Fees Brochure [My Profile > Account conditions > Services and Fees Brochure]. We are entitled to debit such fees directly from your account. Alpian reserves the right to amend the Services and Fees Brochure at any time and without notice. Any amendment to our Services and Fees Brochure is made available to you by appropriate means. In case of objection, you shall be free to terminate the affected service with immediate effect, unless otherwise agreed with us.
I have no trust in this bank, and their customer service is the worst I’ve ever encountered. This is yet another reason to close my account.
As you correctly noted, Alpian only has exceptionally low costs in the comparison of conventional asset management services. Alpian was included in this study due to certain criteria being met (personal consultation, etc.). That is the study that Alpian is referencing. It would be more correct to say that Alpian was among the cheapest in this study (Sparkasse Schwyz was the cheapest across all models).
Currently moneyland.ch still analyzes conventional asset management services and robo advisors separately, though that will change as the lines grow increasingly blurred.

I’m Luca from Alpian’s Wealth Management team. Could you please clarify which fees you are referring to? I can assure you that we do not apply any registration fees.
Regarding your experience with our customer service, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us again via chat. We’ll do our best to understand what happened and assist you further. I also want to sincerely apologize if your experience with our support team fell short of expectations.
I’m referring to some charges that were debited from my account, labeled as “tax” in the app. When I click on them to see more details, the description “droits d’inscription” appears. This seems both confusing and contradictory to the information you provided.
Could it be the automatic deduction of 35% taxes on the interest credited to the account? If that’s the case, it should be clearly stated as such.
Also, while I have your attention, is there any update on when a native TWINT integration might be available?
ooh sheesh… I did not order the card yet.
buggers. Now I’m back to square one.
Edit: regarding taxes, I see that Alpian takes the 35% tax from interest even if interests are lower than 200chf. Some other banks used to do that (Raiffeisen) but then changed. Most of the banks I know don’t do that below 200chf. Also it’s not clearly stated (or maybe it’s me because it’s all in english.)
Side note: Does anyone know if it’s possible to change the app’s language? My phone is in english but I don’t like to have all documents in english
This depends on how the interests are paid. If interests are paid under the year (quarterly/monthly for instance), than withholding tax applies also under 200 CHF. Only if the interest is paid yearly, you are excempted of the withholding tax.
Indeed, the “tax” transaction is the 35% of lump sum taxes.
I just raised the point to our internal team, and I can confirm that the right spelling for this transaction will be amended as soon as possible. Thank you for the feedback!
Regarding Twint, I can just say that it’s not already on our roadmap and should not be available this year. Please keep in mind that things can evolve during the year, and we will always communicate transparently about that.
