I’m Luca from Alpian’s Wealth Management team. Could you please clarify which fees you are referring to? I can assure you that we do not apply any registration fees.
Regarding your experience with our customer service, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us again via chat. We’ll do our best to understand what happened and assist you further. I also want to sincerely apologize if your experience with our support team fell short of expectations.
I’m referring to some charges that were debited from my account, labeled as “tax” in the app. When I click on them to see more details, the description “droits d’inscription” appears. This seems both confusing and contradictory to the information you provided.
Could it be the automatic deduction of 35% taxes on the interest credited to the account? If that’s the case, it should be clearly stated as such.
Also, while I have your attention, is there any update on when a native TWINT integration might be available?
ooh sheesh… I did not order the card yet.
buggers. Now I’m back to square one.
Edit: regarding taxes, I see that Alpian takes the 35% tax from interest even if interests are lower than 200chf. Some other banks used to do that (Raiffeisen) but then changed. Most of the banks I know don’t do that below 200chf. Also it’s not clearly stated (or maybe it’s me because it’s all in english.)
Side note: Does anyone know if it’s possible to change the app’s language? My phone is in english but I don’t like to have all documents in english
This depends on how the interests are paid. If interests are paid under the year (quarterly/monthly for instance), than withholding tax applies also under 200 CHF. Only if the interest is paid yearly, you are excempted of the withholding tax.
Indeed, the “tax” transaction is the 35% of lump sum taxes.
I just raised the point to our internal team, and I can confirm that the right spelling for this transaction will be amended as soon as possible. Thank you for the feedback!
Regarding Twint, I can just say that it’s not already on our roadmap and should not be available this year. Please keep in mind that things can evolve during the year, and we will always communicate transparently about that.
While the technical side works well, with a decent exchange rate and a fairly user-friendly app, there are a few major drawbacks: the lack of native Twint integration, an incompetent customer support team, and a serious lack of communication.
It’s been over a month since I requested the closure of my account. After receiving an automated email stating that the process could take up to 30 days, I’ve noticed that even this timeframe hasn’t been respected. My account is still active despite multiple follow-ups (twice via chat and once by phone). @Luca_Alpian
My next step will be to send a written letter, as it’s simply impossible to close an account directly through the app - a surprising limitation for a bank claiming to be fully digital.
Overall, my experiences with neobanks have been mixed. While the technical side generally works well, customer service is often non-existent (with the exception of Neon, which responds quickly).
Personally, I wouldn’t recommend Alpian, Yuh, Zak, or even Neon as a primary account. An old teacher of mine used to say: “If it’s free, you are the product,” and “Cheap always ends up costing too much.” Unfortunately, I have to admit he was right.
I opened an account few days back. So far I find customer service quite responsive to my questions (chat function)
It’s a pity that no native Twint. I am trying to activate prepaid Twint which is taking a bit of time as they need time to verification (TWINT is taking time)
I will provide feedback after few months.
I never intended to have Alpian or any Fintech as main bank account, so perhaps my expectations are different too.
I’ve tested all the mentioned services but never used any as my main account - only as a backup or for daily payments with minimal deposits.
The only service I can confidently recommend is CSX, which I used daily for an extended period without issues. Their customer service is excellent, even on weekends, and far more responsive than other neobanks.
Ranking from best to worst:
Neon: Reliable with responsive support, but unannounced daytime maintenance is a drawback.
Zak: Similar to Neon, with branch access, but harder-to-reach support and outdated paper processes.
Alpian: Works fine but lacks Twint, phone support, and has poor customer service. Only ranked third for its better exchange rates.
Yuh: Functional, but support is absent, exchange rates are high, and the app’s flashy design isn’t appealing.
This reflects my experience, though opinions may vary.
They have a nr. to call, I wouldn’t call it absent, no? Yes it’s annoying and the support you get is often more like a ‘receptionist’ who calms you down and forwards messages rather than being able to solve the problem.
Have you ever tried calling the support line? It’s a complete disaster… If only there were an option to get a callback, but it doesn’t seem to be (yet?) possible.
