Alpian - New Private Banking Fintech in Switzerland

well, they have to open my account before 31.12. in order to transfer 500chf… otherwise there is any bonus… quite smart from the guys.

Strange, I also took advantage of the offer and registered over the weekend of November 9-10, 2024. I received the metal card today.

The application is simplistic but seems effective (I haven’t tested everything yet). Apple Pay works very well, and transactions are instantaneous and well managed (I’ve had no problems whatsoever). The fact that you can have 5 virtual cards is a good idea to avoid problems in the event of fraud (just delete the card that has been hacked).

So far, I have nothing negative to say. Can’t wait for Twint. I have my doubts about foreign transactions because of their surcharges of 0.20% on weekdays and 0.50% at weekends.

A little plus: their metal card is cool (not essential, but it has a nice effect).

I believe 0.2% is very competitive versus most providers including Revolut etc. Right ?

Like you, I also took advantage of the offer, registered on the 11th and received the card today.

I’m not really impressed by the application or by Alpian’s offer, but the 200.- free cashback was too tempting to pass up. I was able to carry out a few tests and the first money transfers, even abroad, worked well and were carried out quickly.

So far, nothing negative to report. On the other hand, the fact that there is no information on the card other than the first and last name is a bit confusing. I wonder whether, when the card expires, they provide a new metal card or whether they simply generate a new virtual card attached to the physical card. If this were the case, I’d see real added value in metal cards compared with plastic ‘disposable’ cards that expire.

My impression is that Alpian can easily replace Wise and act as a back-up account for depositing cash at a fairly good interest rate, especially as the full amount is available at any time. To my knowledge, only Yuh offers the same rate and withdrawal conditions (but with a much less attractive conversion rate).

To be continued.

How does it compare with Radicant? (seems like same interest rate on the main account)

I guess the difference is that alpian is multi currency, while Radicant has now currency exchange fees but that’s when using the debit card.

No idea. The last time I checked the application was only available in German and English. I didn’t look any further to test this one (although the language barrier is more of an excuse than anything else).

Checked alpian again, things like not supporting e-bill is kinda not ok for me to use as my main banking account :frowning:

I do like that you don’t need to use a savings account to get some interests (unlike e.g. yuh).

That’s also why I see this account more as a backup solution / an alternative to neon or Yuh. Without ebill and a native Twint, I don’t think the application is complete (the fact that you can’t deposit cash into it is also a missing feature, but that’s the same for all neobanks).

I think with Radicant you cannot make bank transfers abroad … that was one thing I found odd

I, personally, started to like to NOT have a huge amount of money in my payment account, in any app or bank. Less chances to screw up things during a payment or a money transfer or maybe even get scammed. In this sense, I started to like Yuh spaces, because my money are earning interest and are always available, but at the same time are NOT in the account that is, for example, connected to the debit card.

Yeah good point. For me it’s a bit of hassle to manage cash flow (would have to wire stuff after I receive my salary, etc.)

Since all/most of my expenses are with my credit card (paid with ebill), it’s not really an issue (but yes if you use a debit card it’s different).

Just checked again, same status. I think I will contact them tomorrow.

For a main bank account, I think none of the NEO banks give me confidence to be honest.

ZKB still rocks for me

Still using BCF to get my salary, then I dispatch my money.
I send money for daily expenses to Radicant (but I also have an Alpian account).
Radicant has Twint, eBill, permanent orders, choice of payment date(…) and 0.75% on the main account so I don’t have to deal with spaces.12 free ATM withdrawals/y and no FX fees. I’m happy with them. Apparently foreign transfers are coming soon…
Alpian looks nice but it has none of what I said above (except 0.75% on main account), so I will not use Alpian now.

Today, I got my account activated. And I sent 500 CHF from neon. Then I found this in the QoQa Email:

So from neon it’s not possible to activate the bonus. Well, I will have to use another account. Funny restriction…

This information was added later in the details of the Qoqa offer. A consultant from Alpian mentioned in one of the comments that the first transfer must come from an account that complies with FATF standards. I assume that Neon does not comply with FATF standards in this case (not only Neon, but also Wise, Neon, Revolut et PayPal seems not to comply with FATF)…

I hope Bank Cler (zak) is, I transferred 500chf from there…
the last chance would be for me yuh. I Have no other accounts.

ZAK and YUH were not on the exclusion list. I guess this will work.

I don’t have that impression as Revolut uses bank interchange with no extra commission (I think) except at weekends and neon uses MasterCard interchange with no extra commission.

But I’ll do the test once by buying the same product once with Alpian and once with neon to see if there’s a difference or not.

Personally, the fact that the card bears no indication other than the initials of the first name and surname is a plus for me, as there’s a little less risk of the card being misused by a thief.

Both Revolut and Alpian have a converter on their website to play with…
