Hello everyone I am planning to invest at least 1000 per month in an ETF (possibly larger amounts later on). Now that I have done some research, I have shortlisted two brokers: IBKR and Neon. With IBKR I would probably go for VT, due to the lower TER (0.07%). With Neon, I would go for FWRA (TER 0.15%), as it can currently be bought with the savings plan without brokerage fees. Switching my portfolio from VWRL (Degiro) to VT (IBKR)

Hi everyone, I have just moved all my Vanguard VWRL from DEGIRO to InteractiveBrokers. I’m wondering, this should not affect the tax in any way is that correct? Is there a specific way to handle this during tax declaration? (also I’m now planning to sell all of them to buy VT instead and benefit from the DA-1, so probably the transfer was not needed, but at least it should be faster to re-buy VT.)

Your cost structure at IB will be quite different. There’s a 0.03% conversion fee for currencies (more about that here, or you’ll do the conversion manually (depending on the amount it’s cheaper or more expensive to use the AutoFX). There’s no Stempelsteuer at IBRK since it’s not based in Switzerland and then there’s the witholding tax thing (more about it in the IBKR Q&A that I linked to previously, here’s a sample calculation and you’ll find many more in this forum). So you’d have to add that to the cost of VHYL/Invesco as well when comparing to VT@IBKR.
