YOUR PREDICTIONS? - VT stock

Hi, why is the VT dipping currently and what are your limit orders to buy? I’m new into etf’s and bought @120, 119 and have an active Buy 8 VT Limit 112.00.
What are my limit orders based on? just gut feeling lol.

Let me know! Thank you.

my prediction is around 5-8% per year on average :stuck_out_tongue:

hehe. Don’t you work with the limit order at all?

Market timing, statistically doesn‘t work on average.

Most people here just buy monthly a scheduled amount or when they have more funds to deploy.

Your limit order could simply be never executed, as the market may never dip lower than today.

As for why it‘s dipping?

Fed meeting, they said not as much progress on inflation as hoped and two, instead of 4 rates cuts next years. Now in top comes the US budget concerns.

Thank you for your response. I just find it very tempting to work with limit orders because there is a lot going on at the moment. However, I don’t mind if the limit orders aren’t executed. Because the money I wanted to invest is already invested. Thanks for the possible dipping explanations, I can look into that.

Just to save you some time, that’s done and priced in for 32 hours already, though

Limit orders are cool IF you have extra liquidity. Those more advanced here sell puts instead so they make something on their proxy limit order. I am not one of them

How or with which sources can I understand whether such an event has already been fully reflected in the ETF? (Or is this simply a logical assumption or based on mathematical calculations?) I have no idea about options and have never dealt with them. I have only been investing since November 2024. Anyway, thanks for the information.

It‘s priced in as soon as the information is public. Always with everything, else there would be an arbitrage opprtunity. That will not persist in an efficient market.
And you will never be faster as the big players.

Makes sense. Thank you!

From wallstreetbets, edited for profanity:

“Don’t even ask the question. The answer is yes, it’s priced in. Think Amazon will beat the next earnings? That’s already been priced in. You work at the drive thru for Mickey D’s and found out that the burgers are made of human meat? Priced in. You think insiders don’t already know that? The market is an all-powerful, all-encompassing being that knows the very inner workings of your subconscious before you were even born. Your very existence was priced in decades ago when the market was valuing Standard Oil’s expected future earnings based on population growth that would lead to your birth, at what age you would get a car, how many times you would drive your car every week, how many times you take the bus/train, etc. Anything you can think of has already been priced in, even the things you aren’t thinking of. You have no original thoughts. Your consciousness is just an illusion, a product of the omniscent market. Free will is a myth. The market sees all, knows all and will be there from the beginning of time until the end of the universe (the market has already priced in the heat death of the universe). So please, before you make a post on wsb asking whether AAPL has priced in earpods 11 sales or whatever, know that it has already been priced in and don’t ask such a question again.”

In all seriousness, “priced in” basically means all new information is nearly instantly reflected in stock prices, which means you and me can’t do anything about it, so we shouldn’t because we’ll lose.

In the past Wall Street firms were trying to get offices nearer the NYSE and were laying thicker cables or digging between New York and Chicago to try that their orders made it to the market a few fractions of milliseconds faster than competitors. I am not making this up.

VT had reached 112 USD for the first time ever on 15.05.2024. Enjoy your game.

Linus Techtips was recently at a server provider for stockmarket and other stuff, where it was talked about for a bit.
The stuff is still very much hapenning, just differently today.

Also they use very long spools of cable to equalize the length of cable between different users etc. It’s crazy. Here is the video with the timecode where it’s talked about: https://youtu.be/wumluVRmxyA?t=851

I didn’t ask to make me cry.
All jokes aside, thanks for this reality slap. I just sometimes have this naive attitude that knowing less sometimes still helps because you’re less afraid.

Hey, I know it’s gambling. I still like limit orders because there is or can still be a lot of movement.

Why don’t you sell puts on VT? If you gamble in this way, with put options you’d get at least some extra money (premium).

He put a limit for 8 shares, while with a PUT, the minimum is 100 shares…not the same

In all seriousness, does someone know how to do this (sell/buy options) on Postfinance? I haven’t managed to find it, or find some sort of tutorial.

Maybe you can’t. On ibkr you need permissions to do it. I can’t do it myself since I didn’t pass the exam
