Worst Investment Idea 2025

For the purpose of education and with no intent of insulting anyone, I would like to introduce a new “community prize”: Worst Investment Idea, now for 2025.

Some rules (in making).

1. The idea must be posted in this forum or at least has been seriously discussed here. I don’t care about all the shit from reddit.

2. Similar to the Museum of Bad Art collection, the investment idea must be proposed seriously (like, people really thought it is worth checking), not in jest.

3. The idea should be bad from the start, not just an investment thesis turning wrong. Thus, I would rather not nominate HedgieFundie for 2022, etc.

Let’s start collecting ideas and then vote. For next years, including 2026, we should collect candidates during the year.

Transferring Money Abroad for Interest Earnings

I have some money in my Swiss bank account. As a Turkish citizen, I’ve noticed that Turkish banks are currently offering around 50% interest. I’m considering transferring some funds to a Turkish bank using cryptocurrency. I’ve done this before, but not with such a large amount. Refinancing my consumer loan

Insult is a subjective feeling that also depends on the other person. I would feel more comfortable discussing bad investment ideas in their resprective threads (as it has been done so far), rather than repeating a discussion that has already taken place in a separate thread.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion, feel free to disagree.

I think it would be friendlier if people voluntarily bring their own candidates for the “worst investment idea” to this thread, rather than picking them from other threads with the benefit of hindsight.
