Wise just announced an increase from from 1.75% to 2.69% on the variable fee for withdrawing cash from ATMs over the (very low) limit of 230 CHF per month.
This makes Wise pretty much on par with a normal bank debit card when withdrawing cash abroad, e.g. on holiday.
Recommended alternatives?
EDIT: just to be clear, yes, I’m talking about withdrawing cash abroad (for example in location where this is the most widespread payment method) using a physical card. Possibly without requiring a smartphone app (Wise allows to do everything from browser).
In case you want to stay with cash: I guess Neon with their 1.5% flat ATM fee (+ 0.35% FX markup with the free plan)?
Else I’ve always paid with a card the last few years, can’t remember the last time I took more than 100 USD/EUR (for emergencies) with me for holidays.
