Did anybody succeed in deducting money sent to relatives in need? What documents did you provide/the tax office asked you to provide? Was it enough to provide the “Bestätigung der unterstützten Person über Art, Zeitpunkt und Höhe der erfolgten Unterstützungen einzureichen”? Planning on trying to deduct the donation for 2020 in Zurich

Would be interesting to hear about the outcome, my wife sends some money to her parents in Mexico too from time to time, not really huge sums so deduction would probably not make a noticeable change in taxes but for me optimizing taxes is like a sport.
