Just answering that old message since I was also using that hack that I learned here: netflix has taken actions against this now. My account got closed off and the added credit just vanished. After checking on reddit it seems it’s affecting others as well. So the Turkish netflix account fed with TL giftcards that you can freely access from a CH IP address does no longer work ^^.

My account seems to be one step behind as only recently my crypto credit card was disabled. Gift cards still work but I will only activate them with a turkish vpn

Same here, they reject the Swiss Visa backup card (maybe because they increased prices?) but turkish gift cards still work (assuming Turkish VPN)
I actually reloaded with a TL gift card but they just emptied the account. So be careful and don’t add a lot, I lost 35 chf worth of gift cards. Also as soon as you reload i.e. before they close the account, they do a geolock and you can only access through VPN.
I guess if you only access the service with a Turkish IP then you might be safe but be careful if you access it through a Swiss IP.

Just to be complete here is my timeline:
- end of last year I added 1500 TL which should have covered the account until October or so
- Mid July the account said I ran out of subscription, did not remember how much I put so I just thought I needed to add some credit
- I added 750 TL and reactivated the account and then got geo locked. I continued accessing the service from a Turkish VPN
- Today I tried to log in through the Turkish VPN as I had done since a couple of days and the message came in that my subscription was no longer active. I checked the payment history and that’s when I realized that they emptied my credit twice: once in July as I had some 500 TL left and again now in August.
So be careful, they won’t send you any notice or warning. Worst part is that they send you emails asking you to come back lol.
Similar testimony can be found on Reddit. Speaking about Reddit they also had the main sub closed (NetflixviaVPN or something like that, a new sub got opened now). So they have definitely changed posture against such hacks over the past weeks.

My Turkish subscription is still active and connected to my Neon card. At 289.99 TL for the standard plan, it’s not that cheap anymore, so I might as well switch to an IPTV service for 60 CHF a year, where you get not only the shows, but also worldwide TV channels.
What IP service can you recommend?

There’s a very large recording buffer and a social feature that allows you to watch anything someone else recorded. (You need to be “friend”, but everyone sets it up to accept friendship request automatically, which is a nice hike around copyright issues)
I use aHR0cHM6Ly9hcnRhaW5hcHAubmwv (Decode it with base64, I don’t want the site to get more Google exposure than needed). Movies and series get updated fairly quickly although they mostly appear in English at first and other languages follow.
If you pay with crypto it’s 59.50 EUR so about 55-56 CHF for a year. The last time I had some trouble with the built-in payment options. I emailed them to ask if they could give me their wallet number so that I could deposit the crypto there directly.
