Swiss life hacks list

The “turkish” youtube hack doesn’t seem to work anymore.

They seem to want to validate the “local” address now when paying.

Any other country that worked for you?
(I’ve seen people mention India/Phillipines)

I’ve switched UKR since the Turkey hack has also stopped working for me. A family account is around 3.60 CHF per month.

I have moved my yt premiun family account to serbia (CHF 9) but I got this information today from a friend who says it works fine https://www.reddit.com/r/VPN/comments/1dwqu2p/10_step_solution_for_youtube_premium_using_a_vpn/?rdt=35423

Sadly doesn’t seem to be an option for people on Android…

You can use the brave browser, it blocks adds pretty well

I did check it. One needs to provide google account codes and backup codes. Were you comfortable sharing your account codes?

Did you have to use an external app e.g. tasker to do this? The android app is barebones, which I guess is good from a security point of view.

I didn’t want to fiddle with many more apps so just opted to leave wireguard on all the time.

It’s a standard feature in the iOS app but AFAIK not on Android.

I have set it up with Tasker to disable the tunnel when connected to any of my home WLANs and enable it otherwise. It was pretty easy and should be countless guides online.

Just answering that old message since I was also using that hack that I learned here: netflix has taken actions against this now. My account got closed off and the added credit just vanished. After checking on reddit it seems it’s affecting others as well. So the Turkish netflix account fed with TL giftcards that you can freely access from a CH IP address does no longer work ^^.

My account seems to be one step behind as only recently my crypto credit card was disabled. Gift cards still work but I will only activate them with a turkish vpn

My next move would be to get a netflix account over gamsgo.com

Same here, they reject the Swiss Visa backup card (maybe because they increased prices?) but turkish gift cards still work (assuming Turkish VPN)

I actually reloaded with a TL gift card but they just emptied the account. So be careful and don’t add a lot, I lost 35 chf worth of gift cards. Also as soon as you reload i.e. before they close the account, they do a geolock and you can only access through VPN.

I guess if you only access the service with a Turkish IP then you might be safe but be careful if you access it through a Swiss IP.

Just to be complete here is my timeline:

  • end of last year I added 1500 TL which should have covered the account until October or so
  • Mid July the account said I ran out of subscription, did not remember how much I put so I just thought I needed to add some credit
  • I added 750 TL and reactivated the account and then got geo locked. I continued accessing the service from a Turkish VPN
  • Today I tried to log in through the Turkish VPN as I had done since a couple of days and the message came in that my subscription was no longer active. I checked the payment history and that’s when I realized that they emptied my credit twice: once in July as I had some 500 TL left and again now in August.

So be careful, they won’t send you any notice or warning. Worst part is that they send you emails asking you to come back lol.

Similar testimony can be found on Reddit. Speaking about Reddit they also had the main sub closed (NetflixviaVPN or something like that, a new sub got opened now). So they have definitely changed posture against such hacks over the past weeks.

What IP service can you recommend?

Not sure it’s what you had in mind but teleboy has an interesting offering.

There’s a very large recording buffer and a social feature that allows you to watch anything someone else recorded. (You need to be “friend”, but everyone sets it up to accept friendship request automatically, which is a nice hike around copyright issues)

Are you still happy with this provider ?

Another life hack – init7 gives 111 CHF off the initial setup costs if you’re switching to them and can provide them with a recommendation code.

That recommendation code can be found on an invoice. So if you want to switch and “know a guy”, ask them for the recco code. They’ll get 111 CHF off as well.

Win-win really
