Thanks for the suggestion. According to Claude, RSC settings on the Iphone would be at Messages > RSC Messaging. I don’t see such a setting on my Iphone. I therefore assume that RSC is not enabled.
BTW, I also checked with my mobile provider (spusu). They surprisingly tried to be truly helpful. According to their support, the Google SMS did not even reach their server. They had other customers complaining about the same issue.
I then bought a new additional number with spusu. This number received a Google SMS without any problems.
Very strange and hard to solve

As of yet there’s no RCS support on iOS in Switzerland at all.
You can try to force de-registering: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat
But assuming you’ve never used Android and Google Messages, that’d be pretty strange.
At least Google, Apple, Meta and so on are doing things properly, you can completely remove your phone number as a channel for MFA and account recovery, which I’d recommend if you can get a cheap FIDO2 key, or two if you want to be safe.

Yes, FIDO2 would clearly be safer. My thinking about the not arriving SMS with Google is that there might be other future services that will require me to use SMS. If they use the same blacklist as Google, I might not be able to use these services. That’s why I’d like to have my SMS work with Google again.
