Nice one Cortana! Steady bumps
I don‘t expect that this linear trend will stay like this
Plus while the increase in bonus is nice, I would actually prefer 10-20k less bonus and 10-20k more basis salary.
That’s smart, I do the same, the salary increase cannot really be taken away from you, and you can take it forward to other companies, when asking for loans, for RAV if god forbid is needed etc.
is that something you can choose? in many industries the higher you go, the bigger the fraction of your total comp comes from variable / discretional parts (i guess to keep people motivated and to make it easier to give a “pay cut” if performance drops)
Well no, I can’t chose that. But at least they keep the bonus rather stable and potentially growing. 2021 was an outliner. I’m not really dependent on it. With my new base salary I’ll be able to save 3k/month.
3k per month is great!
Do you have kids / dependents ?
Single, no kids. To give some additional back story: I started as an intern at this bank in 2016 and worked my way up. Now I work in Private Banking. I’m 34 now and my salary will probably flatten out once I’m closer to 40. I expect it to be somewhere around 180-190k.
Yeah, come on
That’s an impressive progression btw. Bravo for your progress (and the hard work) !
on track to 4x in 10 years, nice
Cortana inspired me to analyse my salary progression.
28 years old, no kids
2012-2015 apprenticeship
2016-2019 Bachelor studies + student job
2020-2022 Master studies + part-time job
Salary should remain stable as I work for the government now.
What’d be telling is people coming to CH from poorer countries, then we’d see 4-10x increases in salary
A more mature model here, 59 years old, 1 son.
What goes up, must come down
age
21: gap year with parttime work
22-27: studies
28: parttime work
29-30: first real job
31-52: 2nd job with global bank
53-55: 3rd job with global bank abroad
55: 6 month unemployed abroad
56-57: 4th job with small private bank
58: 5th job in public administration
59: unemployed with RAV
Thanks for sharing. Plans at 60 and beyond? Find another job or? Stay in CH or…?
I’d love to work. GF has a job in ZH. Therefore, I feel somewhat tied to one of the most expensive cities in the world.
