Seeking Alpha - Alpha Picks Service

After receiving around 20 marketing emails from Motley Fool Stock Advisor, I became so annoyed that I decided to look into the competing service Seeking Alpha.

Their basic stock-picking service:

  • Recommends 2 stocks per month

  • Costs $499 per year

  • Shows a strong performance track record

I’m considering giving it a try. I’m not afraid of stock picking itself — but I don’t want to invest the required time and effort, and my results over the past few years haven’t been very successful.

Is anyone using this or has tried it out in the past?

If they could consistently beat the market by a decent margin then they wouldn’t be trying to get people to pay for subscriptions IMO.

I suspected analyst rating would be poor, otherwise the market would quickly react to their recommendations and efficient market hypothesis would take over. I did some research before and basically all analyst ratings are junk Do Sell-Side Analysts Know Better? • Decoding Markets

One thing is true in their ad seen here, but it doesn’t cost $499.

What does it cost then and where did you see a different yearly price?

My personal recommendation, already voiced by others: don’t. It’s most likely a scam, not worth the money.

I can offer you MongoosePicks instead. Half the price at $250 and 10x the performance with a 3000% annualized return.
