I did mention it - Its Schlussrechnung, with payment attached and the clause that I have 30 days to accept it or file objections. As for my Roman, I am doing my outmost, its difficult language for me, but in the meantime I do like pure Roman - I seize a day (Carpe diem) and drink wine, enjoy myself, and expand my empire.
Edit: I take it you are fluent in Romansh, because you know when in Rome, do like Romans.
A simple solution is just to call the tax office and ask.
Each canton has a different system, so it is your cantonâs tax collection system that is relevant to you.
In Zurich, one receives four documents from the tax office, in this order:
A provisional tax bill. This is simply an estimate, with no obligation to pay, and can be ignored.
A federal tax assessment.
A cantonal/municipal tax assessment.
A final tax bill. This doesnât have all the details of the tax assessments, but it does include basic information, and of course, the correct bank details of the tax office.
In Aargau the provisional tax bill must be paid, and any surplus taxes paid are then refunded after your tax declaration is filed and processed.
In ZH you, or at least I, typically get two provisional tax bills. The provisional tax bill of the state (canton/municipality) can indeed be ignored if you want to effectively take advantage of a cheap loan. However, the provisional federal tax bill (which I receive a year later) has to be paid (or adjusted) within 30 days.
The final tax bills are again separated between federal taxes and the rest, at least for me.
And I donât get separate tax assessments every year. In some years (without any adjustments by the tax authorities), I get combined âSchlussrechnung und EinschĂ€tzungsmitteilungâ for state taxes and âVeranlagungsverfĂŒgung und Steuerrechnungâ for federal taxes, which do not contain any details of the assessment (as the details match the tax declaration, I guess).
Iâm not on a B permit, though, so, some details likely differ (maybe no federal tax bills at all due to withholding taxes fully covering the federal tax amount).
I got the email answer from them and no surprise they are blaming me for not receiving the EinschĂ€tzungsmitteilung. The explanation is so vague and twisted there is no sense to it. Also they are bullshiting me that âin principleâ the tax credits are credited to âBundessteuerâ, which obviously is shit. So much for reaching out and clarifying. The case is rest, and at least I know who I am dealing with.
Thanks a lot Cray for the post full of actionable steps. Here is what I did already:
I sent by post (einschreibe) request for SteuerveranlagungsverfĂŒgung.
After 5 days sent an email requesting confirmation that they received my letter.
Got the answer today, basically saying we didnât sent you detailed tax assessment becauseâŠI could really make no sense from it. whatsoever, and I tried hard. Plus, deflecting the tax credit not being taken into account to Bundessteuer.
I replied to their email that I do not agree with their interpretation, and I expect written reply with SteuerveranlagungsverfĂŒgung untill (given day), so if I object I still have time to send my objection in timely manner.
I guess, I have to wait now till (date), and then what?
If I donât receive it. Do I still have right to write Einsprache?
Continuing asking then n-time for it, makes no sense, unless there is a legally stronger way to demand it and they cannot refuse?
Btw, I only sent it to Gemainde address, because I did not yet received anything from Canton, but looking at the Schlussrechnung it deals with both, so I assumed probably wrong that they also represent Cantonal interest. Shall I repeat process with the Canton too?
