Yep and I gave the steps with screenshots and actual data with a product and amount that were discussed here, from ICTax. And I don’t think that was so simple for everyone to understand.
That’s why I am considering an even simpler setup. Ucits fund, can be in EUR, acc, avoiding enormous fx fees these stealers are charging, bought / held at a (/ the cheapest) Swiss broker with etax statement. Not sure the EUR product + Swiss was even considered possible.
I think you’re being a bit harsh with the OP with the assumptions @JPEG. They are asking questions and learning.
And if one could only post here - or invest - if one had a thorough knowledge of the stock market, banks and the tax system, this forum would be pretty empty and most of us wouldn’t be allowed to invest
It was only then that I realized that was directed at me.
Although I now realize that my post could easily be understood as “go with IB,” I think you’re taking your interpretation a bit too far. Incidentally, there was never any mention of a Swiss broker as a solution.
OP asked for figures, which I tried to provide. Of course, the final decision must be made by rexleonis.
For me, the advantage of IB’s tax credits would not nearly be enough. I would suggest the simple way and go with a German broker.
I’m not harsh, I’m quoting, here it’s not asking questions, it’s “please tell me how much I lose by not being “smart” and NOT learning“. Where do we go from here?
First this is not a question of being smart, but being interested and committed, and fact is, it’s not the case, not the target audience, and that is VERY OK; so even if you have the answer, don’t bait… I support the very best solution for their own interest, if anything I am criticizing answers and restraining the so-called smarter people not to blur OP’s mind with potential gains taking a path OP doesn’t want.
For me it’s clear that OP has strong convictions of what they want, which is great, but because it’s more expensive, doubt is creeping in, and this kind of calculations just worsen everything.
Thanks for clarifying. Of course everybody wants to help, but if someone asks me how much time they’re gonna save driving at 200km/h instead of 120, not sure I would answer if I wanted to help.
I dare to expand the available options (also because IBKR +VT was considered the Swiss option at first).
Thanks, everyone! No worries, I will not hold any of you responsible, of course Internet forums are like pubs where we exchange opinions over a beer, not the be-all and end-all. That’s what financial advisors are for when you want definite advice. I haven’t paid any of you, so no need to worry
