RAV and penalties after resignation and long holidays

Hello dear community,

I’m seeking some advise for the following plan please. I am single,no kids.

I want to resign from my actual company (worked for the last 3 years there).
And travel for 3-4 months from my own savings.
I would start searching for a job some weeks before returning to CH.

Then return back in Switzerland and register for the RAV while continuing searching for a job.

As RAV sets a penalty of 3 months in case of resignation, my questions are:

  1. Can i register to RAV only 4 months after the end of my notice period?

  2. Will the penalties of 60 days(3 months) still apply from the day when i register to RAv?

3.Are the above enforced by law,or just based on the good willing of the advisor/ canton/…
Thanks in advance

Answer to question one: Yes you can. Did so before and it’s very common. Under different circumstances, never do that. You paid for the unemployment insurance. In this case though totally legit

Answer to question two: Well, probably yes. I think I had not that many last time though, because I showed up already with my list of applications I did before signing up. According to the link below it’s within discrection of the clerk.

Answer to question three: FAQ Arbeitslosenentschädigung (admin.ch) see “Einstelltage”

So my advise would be: Try to apply for jobs while you’re travelling or close to end your travel.
