My Raiffeisen waives fees for members (you have to buy 1 share for 200.-) if they use their account for their salary (1’195.- min) or have a mortgage or 20k of retirement assets with them.
They also seem to waive debit card fees but I’m not sure I’m understanding this right as they also state a 50.- fee for Visa Debit / Debit Mastercard. I’ll have to ask them on this one. If they do waive it, then their conditions are becoming better this year than they were before, under certain conditions.
They also now have new savings accounts with either 91 or 180 days of notice before any withdrawal, with better interests (0.75% and 1% respectively). Not that it is awfully attractive, but it’s now there.
It’s the pdf that has me confused, though it’s mostly that I can’t believe it and that they just put asterisks everywhere which do make things a bit confusing. Reading it correctly, fulfilling the conditions, the debit card is free. Seeing as most other Raiffeisens are adding unavoidable fees, I want to see it happen before really believing it (it’s not too good to be true since there are banks with actual 0 fees but it seems too good for Raiffeisen in the context of the adjustments they are making in most branches this year).
They all have the same text, they just move around the tiny numbers
[…] if you require additional cards, it will (not) be charged a supplement (of 4chf monthly).
I don’t like that the conditions are getting worse esch year:
-fees for account without regular payment
-the ski offers went from 50% to 40%. And Now only 3 stations are offered for the Wallis.
-Fees to deposit coin, before it was free
And in the meantime, others banks like ZKB and neobanks offer really attractive conditions.
Got confirmation from my local branch that they do waive fees for debit cards if you hold one of their shares (for 200.-, with up until now, 2% interests even when rates were negative) and have your salary going through them (or a mortgage with them).
My understanding is that this is a very rare situation and that most branches will levy fees of some sort no matter what. I can get 0.- fees* at mine, though.
* provided I hold a share, so not actual 0 fees but close enough for me.
I wanted to send a warning to move all my money to avoid the 2% fee but there is no way to do it online
Edit: It might be possible to move everything without fees since they changed something, but tbh I don’t know yet if I will move. 48chf for museums might be still a good deal. I just have to go more.
Is he condition for the waive fees written somewhere?
Because in my case, I have shares and receive a salary, but they still taxed me 40.- a year for the debit card.
It’s in the conditions of the pack on your local branch’s website. You can’t trust the website itself as there seems to be discrepencies there, only the pricing pdf seems to be accurate (at least for me).
Most branches don’t seem to waive debit card fees. Chances are yours doesn’t (some have both account and debit card fees, I’d be changing bank if mine did).
Edit: alternatively, you may want to lobby the other owners of your branch and get the word out at the general assembly that those fees are not acceptable in a world where several cantonal banks have true 0 fees formulas.
My RF is so delayed in applying the new terms that they might only take effect in March 2025. For those switching banks, which one are you considering?
I’ve been satisfied so far, but the closure of the branch near my place, the constant changes in terms, and the lack of modernity in their app (especially after the failed launch of their new app) leave me puzzled about RF’s “modern” approach.
Same for Raiffeisen Mont-Aubert-Orbe, but I don’t really understand if the 4.-/month is in addition to the 48.- for the debit card or is it the same, I’ll give them a call today
To the best of my knowledge, this does not exist nationwide in Switzerland. However, cantonal banks offer alternatives, although they are limited to a local scope. They also provide discounts for certain local activities. These offers are not as extensive as RF but are certainly more affordable, costing less than 50 CHF per year.
