Radicant - a new neo-bank & wealth management app

Imo, TCS Family + “Reiseschutz ETI”: ETI Schutzbrief: Rundum geschützt auf all Ihren Reisen

TCS is one of few instances/insurances, who offer unlimited healing costs abroad, which is very important for some countries (e.g. USA, Japan).

I got the ETI Schutzubrief from TCS as my parents in law came to visit us last summer and I wanted to have one number for my wife to call in case our very old car break down somewhere in Europe. With that I also got a global travel insurance with TCS for only 20buck or so. Later that year we went to Japan and had actually a flight canceled due to a engine breakdown which caused a 12h delay. I got a confirmation from Emirates and everything. Even with that the TCS insurance center refused any of our claims (food and drinks and a missed hotel in Duabi) and was very uncooperative even if I called them. They wanted more documentation from Emirates which Emirates said, no that is all that we get. So based on my personal experience (sample site n=1) I can only strongly advice against using them for a travel insurance.

Thanks (from a non-Radicant customer)!

Thanks to everyone for your messages.
Looking at some other providers (family of 4 travelling out of EU) and I have to say AXA looks pretty good and cheaper because you can choose your packages (the others usually offer one big more expensive package).
Will continue my researches anyway just to confirm.

From what I see, Radicant is now a community’s winner in the category “the shortest time between the start of the operation and bankruptcy“ (2 years), coming ahead of FlowBank (3.5 years).

Has anyone experienced “Immediate Termination of Your Banking Relationship” from Radicant today?

I have just received an email saying:

We regret to inform you that we are terminating your existing banking relationship with immediate effect. This is done as part of a periodic review of our clients and in accordance with Article 3.10 of our Basic Agreement for radicant Banking Services / Article 5.3 of our Agreement for radicant Financial Services. Attached, you will find your account closing statement.

To ensure the orderly closure of our account and transfer of the remaining balance, we kindly ask you to provide an IBAN in your name from Switzerland/EU/EFTA.

I have tried to find such articles on the Radicant webpage without success.

Moreover, they have charged me 250 CHF:

As per our pricing, and in line with our Terms and Conditions for Banking Services, we reserve the right to charge clients a fee of CHF 25.- including VAT per 15 minutes of effort for clarifications and analyses related to their account. In your case, 2.5 hours were spent on such analyses, leading up to CHF 250.- of applicable fee. The CHF 250.- will be debited from your radicant account.

In the app, the account seems to be closed.

I don’t recall doing anything special with Radicant. The last operation was topping up the Revolut account using the virtual Radicant debit card last weekend.

Makes sense, otherwise they have to provide you with the tax statement in January 2027 - I think, they want to avoid such administrative things. Kaspar& mentioned identical reason: Hintergrund: Warum die Neo-Bank Kaspar& ihre Strategie ändert | MoneyToday

Though they did provide a tax statement in the same e-mail.

Charging Fr 250 seems “a bit” excessive/abusive though…

PS For those that still have accounts, ja well, follow these instructions:
“Would you like to close your account? If so, please send us an email at support@radicant.com with your new bank account details so we can transfer the balance and any accrued interest. We will take care of the closing process within the next few days and send you the usual statements.”

Yes, that worked as well for me a while ago. Even got a tiny bit of interest I wasn’t aware of anymore

Might be worth requesting an itemised bill with a proof of time spent?
Hopefully they won’t charge 25 per 15 minutes for this request.

any update on this? curious about this, the charge doesnt seem justified

They are shutting down, now from their end it is about winding down as fast as possible while limiting costs as much as possible. A debt collection procedure is both lengthy and expensive for them, if you decide to play it hard.

Write them an email, tell them you don’t understand the charge and that you do not agree paying it. If they insist they won’t cancel, make them an offer.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I followed up with Radicant, requesting a refund of the unjustified CHF 250 fee and reversal of my account termination.

Today, I received their reply:

We understand that the termination of our business relationship may have come as a surprise to you. However, please understand that under Articles 12.2 and 12.3 of our Terms and Conditions for Banking Services, as well as Article 3.10 of our Basic Agreement for radicant Banking Services we are not obliged to provide detailed reasons for our decision.

The termination was the result of a routine review of our customer relationships. Following this review, we decided to end our business relationship. This decision is final and cannot be reversed.

I understand that the next step is to send a formal written complaint to their management by registered letter, allow 14 days for a response, and then escalate to the Swiss Banking Ombudsman if unresolved. Am I correct?

My argument is that the fee is abusive and unjustified, especially since they fail to provide a reasonable justification for triggering the investigation and proceeding with the termination. Does it make sense?

The issue is that they have already charged this fee to my account and are now asking where to transfer the remaining balance.

So they might decide to check all their customers for 1000 hours each and then they don’t pay anything back? Is it really enforceable?

Holy hell — once your reputation is gone, you really stop pretending. That old saying fits way too well here.
Big takeaway for me: if a bank keeps popping up in the headlines for the wrong reasons and you can sense an exit coming, pull your money out asap. Makes it a lot harder for them to screw you over afterward.

Easy to say in hindsight and it doesn’t solve your situation, but still — thanks for sharing your experience with this clown-show of a bank. Still hope, there is a happy end.

That is really funny. They charge you for their own due diligence. And you did know they do because you signed a contract that says so.

It is correct that a bank can terminate a client relationship anytime without giving a reason same as a client can terminate his account without giving any reason. So leverage this to the due diligence they sent you an invoice for. Just send them an invoice that you spent 5 hours analyzing their business, what resulted in a termination of your relationship and them having to pay you the same way they want you to pay them.

As Radicant is probably now selling full beer cases to get money for some gas for their company car, probably it is better to send the invoice directly to their parent company, the Basler Kantonalbank. And if you live in Basel just deduct it from your next tax invoice as it is a state owned bank.

Send copies of your invoice to some newspapers, may be fun to see what the Basler Kantonalbank says. Tell everybody to take their business away from Basler Kantonalbank because they are the parents of bandits!

And what about the reputation of the parent company, Basler Kantonalbank? That is a nice place for an attack…
