Product manager, interviewing at UBS for simple digital banking - can I buy/hold crypto (BTC), if i get the job?

Dear all, I am product manager, interviewing at UBS in Ticino for a digital banking position not investment banking, and some people say you can’t hold crypto/buy crypto and the interviewer was not sure? Is there any mustachian ubs/credit suisse employee outside of the trading floor that can shed some light if they can have crypto? If not, how did you do it?

Thank you so much in advance!

UBS requires you to keep and trade all securities with them. And depending on the sensitivity of your role, you will have to get pre-approval. Not-sensitive employees can buy/hold/sell stocks and ETF ad libitum, perhaps observing some holding times.

As UBS does not offer cryptos, there is no rule against buying/holding/selling it with other entities.

I hear so many conflicting things about this. Here for instance, they mention its illegal for employees:

Just sent a follow up question to the UBS recruiter, he’ll be able to confirm what can be done.

When I was interviewing for a Swiss bank, I asked HR for a copy of their internal policy regarding trading/applicable fees for employees.

I won’t trust a subreddit forum…

P.s: I notice that you’re opening a topic about UBS recruitment every 6 months. It may be worth it having all your questions in one big UBS topic/wiki

I know of 2 UBS employees who own crypto. Maybe the relevant phrase is “with UBS account”. Both buy their crypto elsewhere. Mayebe the contract you mention is for sensitive employees.

It is best you ask your recruiter.
