Possibility to upload a pdf attachment to a post / post reply

Sometimes I miss the ability to upload a pdf, instead of a jpg or a link.

Sometimes I find an article relevant to a topic, which I’d like to share.
The jpg upload is obviously of limited use for some use cases, say a few pages of text.
And posting a link - this link may become defunct or be paywalled later.

Is there a reason why pdf uploads/attachments are not possible?

It is a forum configuration option.

That could be also problematic from the copyright point of view.

I think the forum engine is just made for messages and illustrations, not content storage. You can also post a link on a file stored in a cloud.
