Poor Millionaires

Swen Lorenz and his cofounders at Sarnia Asset Management have coined this term for people with USD 1-20m investable assets. An ambition for all forum members here as we all need at least CHF 2m for early retirement in Switzerland. I am particularly fond of people who put the money where their mouth is - and that’s what might set this network of investors apart from ordinary money managers with their predictable self-interest.

Having followed Swen for a while (also meeting him in Zurich once), I enjoy his apppreciation of community and his out-of-the-box thinking and am interested in what is to come: events, blog articles, podcasts and newsletters.

I like the material on poormillionaires.com, but their Sarnia Asset Management compay offers a fund that even Bloomberg does not know about …

Looks like it’s not traded and according to their fund … ahem … document

  • there’s a minimal holding amount of €100’000
  • subscription prices (for shares) will be calculated upon subscription (!)
  • ditto for redemption prices
  • there’s a redemption “gate”

Maybe the poormillionaires.com stuff is independently fine, but that little research on their fund product just repelled me from subscribing to their newsletter.

I’ve seen some of his materials before but remember blocking him and not viewing any more.

I got ‘bad vibes’ from him.
