Hi everyone, I hope you can help me with a decision I have to make. At the moment I have some Pillar 3a at two different locations : finpension (invested with Global 100) and at my cantonal bank (cash, 0.1% interest). I want to regroup and invest everything at only one place. Two options :
Regroup everything at finpension - flat fee 0.39%. TER of funds is ~0.07%
Regroup everything at my cantonal bank and invest in Swisscanto (CH) IPF III Vorsorge Fonds 95 Passiv NT CHF (ISIN CH0512157782), see Fund info | Swisscanto. The bank forces no brokerage fee, but custody fee of 0.30%, lower than at finpension. TER is 0.02%
In a ideal world I’d be glad to work with my local cantonal bank, only if this option is as good as finpension. What do you guys think about this Swisscanto fund ? For me it doesn’t seem too bad with a low TER and a good exposure to global market, plus the bank’s fees seem quite low as well.
So you have to add the hedging-costs, to get to the total costs.
If that’s what you want, it’s a good offer.
If you don’t want hedging, you’re better off with finpension.
Yes, the share of equity is about 95%, cash is less than 1% though. Taken from the factsheet :
Breakdown by Asset Category in % Fund
Money Market 0.66
Swiss Equities 29.93
Foreign Equities 64.43
Real Estate Switzerland 2.48
Commodity 2.50
finpension gives access to many Swisscanto funds, but not this one in particular Index funds – finpension 3a Retirement Savings Foundation. I booked an appointement at the bank, let’s see what they offer - I’ll keep you informed ! Many thanks for your replies
This is an attractive offer. IIRC other KB’s are at least 0.6% and upwards.
Yes, please do. Much appreciated (esp. since I didn’t find much info online).
And I know you are looking at mainly “Swisscanto (CH) IPF III Vorsorge Fonds 95 Passiv NT CHF (ISIN CH0512157782)” for yourself, but I’d be interested to know what other Swisscanto funds can be invested in, in their ePlan3a (I couldn’t find anything on their website).
So you are saying ZKB offers 3a account where you can use that Swisscanto fund?
I know Frankly 95 (ZKB digital offering) uses that same Swisscanto fund but didn’t know ZKB also have direct 3a account with the same fund as offer.
If you are right ZKB 3a is cheaper than Frankly (0.44% all in fees) and that seems weird. Make sure that no other fees like issuing fees, selling fees, transaction fees etc.
Not ZKB in that case but the BCJ (Banque Cantonale du Jura). This bank is also known to offer free accounts (revenue + spare) & Mastercard Debit to its customers, I would not be surprised that they also have interesting options for 3a.
I can pick from ~50 Swisscanto funds for my individual strategy, of which 13 have “IPF” in the title. All the IPF ones have 0% TER. At least the US fund is offered in hedged and non-hedged versions. Personally I am 99% in “Swisscanto (CH) IPF I Index Equity Fund USA NT USD” (ISIN CH0117044732, this is the unhedged version).
Sounds weird to me as well, even for another KB. Maybe you received incomplete information, or there was some misunderstanding I would look very closely at the offer, maybe post it here again.
ZKB charges 0.65% transcation fee for buy/sell, according to this page. Switching to or away from ZKB will therefore be expensive, depending on how much you already have in your 3a and depending on how many funds you want to choose (max fee per fund: CHF 1k).
Now you would have to calculate which is more valuable: low ongoing fees or low fees when buying/selling. Depending on the situation, one or the other will be more worthwhile.
Guys it’s not ZKB, but BCJ (using ZKB’s Swisscanto funds) that OP is talking about.
Still, critical to check buy/sell and any other fees (my French is not fit for that PDF linked).
Yes, I found that many banks on top of the fund fees, charge custody fees and also substantial buy/sell fees (honestly, I thought these kinds of fees should have died out years ago).
Looking at the distribution of the “Fonds 95”, you could also go with an individual finpension strategy of “Swisscanto IPF 30% CH + 70% World (ex CH), and basically have the same with 0% TER.
I believe you cannot purchase the Swisscanto (CH) IPF III Vorsorge Fonds 95 Passiv NT CHF (ISIN CH0512157782) as this fund is only intended for institutional clients. The fund for private clients is CH0511961424 with a TER of 0.40%. This is also the ISIN in the brochure eplan.
