Google does.
On my Pixel Phone similar pictures are grouped so I can choose to keep only 1 of them.
I also receive often notifications to delete/archive some photos (mostly documents or out of focus pictures).
I pay Google One annually. It’s only 20 for 100 GB. When you pay monthly it’s a little bit more, not much.
Yes, I’m a slave to Google, but it’s quite good to search pictures and it makes great memory albums.
FYI: I bought the iCloud+. But apparently, the Shared Albums do not count towards the quota/limit. And also they’re limited with regards to the quality. And you can only have max 1000 photos per album and 200 albums.
And the import is really crappy! There is no way to import multiple albums, you have to create each one by hand! So bad!
If you share only with up to 5 family members, just use Shared Photo Library.
I personally just have an external HD and dump the pictures there from time to time. Also low resolution copy in google photos (free so far).
Also probably soon I will set up a NAS at home for this.
That’s just asking for trouble. In my life, I had 2 HDs die on me. Then all that data is gone. I guess you could also say, you then no more have the problem of where to store your data as you have no data

That’s another “famous” possibility:
Please create a second backup. Assume that the HD has a 1% chance of breaking everytime you use it.
At the end I dump in the computer and then copy to a HD. if ones died I have the other. if both died, data is gone.
Going to another point, what’s the mean of storing all the photos, you save time, but you never check them as 90% is whatsapp shitty pictures or non interesting ones.
it is the same as you just store all paper that reach your post in a drawer, good luck to find something meaningful there
I only store photos that I shot myself, without the random whatsapp memes.
I just like them to remind myself of random memories that are in my brain, but that I couldn’t recall anymore.
Maybe as a little anectode: My parents (in their 70s) often say they wish they had more photos of when they were younger, of their own parents, and of their old houses.
