FWIW, it’s the legal guys that make you log in, so that you can accept the T&C’s, so that you will take the liability with your MAC address (which is known by the provider) if you start something criminal on their wifi.
Anything the marketing guy wants is the smoothest UX possible, believe me
you are probably right. I’m not sure, though, if there is some safe harbor law or something like that, where you don’t have to declare stuff all the time. Maybe it’s a hole in the law.
(as my pet peewe hole: dozens of electric scooters with youngsters that fly around without helm. How’s that possible? I suspect those escooters aren’t really scooters by law (scooter as a Vespa, for example)
they are considered bicycles, up to 25km/h, thereby not requiring a helmet, an insurance and any kind of exams (or driving manners, for most of their drivers in Zürich ).
I also don’t like them, it’s a juristiction hole that has to be fixed.
I switched to Aldi mobile recently, they gave me 20.- credit with the sim and another 50.- for porting my number over. It works well, they have 3 plans you can switch between on a monthly basis. When I’m in CH, I’m using their 15.- a plan that includes unlimited calls and texts to CH along with 3GB of internet. When I know I’m going on holiday in the EU, I switch to the 25.- or 30.- plan that includes 7 or 20gb in CH and 1 or 3GB in the EU. And when I’m back I go back to the cheapest plan.
What’s nice is that the CH internet adds up as long as you stay on any plan. So if I have 20gb but I only used 2gb in the month, the 18gb left keep rolling over every month into the next. I must have around 100gb now and it keeps increasing (doesn’t work with roaming data though, that’s lost every month)
They’re also very easy to reach and answer the phone in less than a minute whenever I call. If you look on their website, they have a regular number hidden to call them instead of the overpriced 0848. Or you can email.
For calling while abroad or from CH to abroad, I use the Groundwire app and VoIP.ms. Along with the roaming data, this works well. The only thing is that I can’t answer incoming calls while abroad or let them go to voicemail without paying so I just disable voicemail when abroad.
And it’s on Sunrise (so is the customer service, I believe)
There are other offers, e.g. Yallo Regular Plus for 16 CHF. I tried to profit from this offer for my 2 numbers already using this plan, but it was not possible from the interface (just change to different ones was available). I contacted them through the chat and now I pay 2x16 CHF, instead of 2x19 CHF per month. Good that they are not leaving existing customers behind ;). Hope it helps.
Then you will have an italian number, which will be very annoying : your friends will probable not call you for free, some swiss services will not work, etc.
