Multiple Portfolios on IBKR

Hello Mustachians

I would like to have several portfolios in IBKR. So far I have read that you can create an additional account with the same login or user and thus have two portfolios. See https://www.ibkrguides.com/clientportal/createnewlinkedaccount.htm

My Question: Is this additional account free or not? I don’t understand the fifth point… “Market data fees are charged once for linked accounts under a single username rather than charged separately for each linked account (market data subscriptions are charged per terminal/computer). However, additional users will be charged separate market data fees.”

Thank you, peace and happy interests

I have two accounts on IBKR under the same user name and login (one for ETFs and one for options). They are both free, since I don’t pay for additional market data.

Edit: Welcome to this forum, fischlischiff

You can just create a sub account a switch seamlessly between them.
No cost at all.

I guess it’s for a case when two users are using the same joint account, so both should pay. However I don’t see why a mustachian investor would pay for these data.

I have three accounts with different settings: two margin, one cash (sometimes like to use the auto FX). Two with sec lending and one without (don’t use sec lending for very liquid ETF as I feel the risk return award for these is poor). Works like a charm, you can transfer positions and funds between accounts easily too.

Adding on top of others post about multiple free accounts

I have two users both with market data subscriptions and I pay twice the market data fees . One for my trading bot and one for my eye. Maybe this can help you understand the fifth point.

Thank you guys for your answers!

@larix.aurea your options link/thread looks very (very!) interesting. I, as a beginner, am now motivated to learn about options. AND thank you for the warm welcome.
