Hello! I would like to ask if anyone has an experience with financing a property in Italy via Swiss bank mortgage. I am a Swiss resident (with B ID and permanent work contract). Is this possible? Within next 2-3 years, would like to acquire an apartment very close to Swiss border and use it as a holiday apartment and investment (rent it out short term every now and then) and possibly a place of my residence after retirement.

If you are non EU citizen then you cannot get mortgage on B permit unless the property is primary residence.
For EU citizens, this might work but it would depend what the Swiss banks think about the property you intend to buy. They need to protect their capital and playing in foreign land always comes with complications.
I suggest to ask couple of big banks and maybe with the ones who have offices in border cantons.
