Any home owner re-did his kitchen ? Could it be interesting to buy it across the border in France (cheaper and detax I’m hoping).
Curious if someone had an experience in this area.

If you buy it in 2025, the new limit is 150chf without to pay Swiss vat on it.
It means that if you are controlled and declared it, you are entitled to pay 8% vat on the remaining.
Of course, you could reclaim French vat but it becomes more and more a problem when the French custom are not available at the border and the PABLO detax device switch off.
You could present your custom only once when coming back with your purchase or have to present the goods packed at the French Consulate.
Yes I saw the changes. From where I stand, 150 vs 300 for a whole kitchen won’t make any difference :).
And on a personnal note I’ve never had issue with a pablo detax device switched off, because for sure I’m not going back with the whole kitchen for the detax…
I was hoping some seller would maybe propose and do all that for us (we bought some furnitures online a few years ago, and the store did everything. It was around half the price compare to the same store in switzerland and we hand the furnitures delivered to our appartement !).
For a kitchen I’m also wondering about norms, and warranty and things like that.

If you find a kitchen and installers from France, it likely will end up cheaper. What costs most here is the work. I guess you’ll still need a local electrician to connect appliances.
Do you really need an electrician to plug in the fridge or oven ?
I’ve read that, but it seems quite incredible .
Any idea idea how much it cost ? We have to do the OIBC anyway.
Well we’ll get a quote from France and another one near Lausanne and we’ll see.
Buying taxfree from France is good, but crossing the border we’ve to pay VAT again + border control fees I believe. Transport is probably more expensive too.
Well the oven usually doesn‘t just „plug in“ - and there is normal AC vs. three phase to be considered. Even for less needy appliances, you may see the need for moving wall sockets around so you have them in a good position.
Can you order the fridge with a Swiss electric plug on a French website ?
If not Also check with your home insurance , if they will cover European appliance plug in with a European adapter to Swiss plug.
Called a kitchen brand, they told me that since an electrician has to do the connexion, and he can change the plug for CH ones.
I’ll go see a swiss kitchen brand and ask the same to see what are our options.
I just did it myself. The oven just needed to be plugged into a socket. The hob required wiring into 3-phase power, but that isn’t a difficult job. The main thing was having the cabling available as the hob didn’t come with it. Luckily, I’d saved the old hob just in case and salvaged the old wiring.
I have a kitchen from DE.
Why should we bother the insurer about the Schuko to T13/T23 adapter?
There are guidelines how these things need to be built. Just dont buy them from aliexpress and when using T13 adapter make sure to check if the Amps from the device and the adapter are matching (or adapter higher than device).
Hob usually needs to be connected by wire. If you have an FI and an“Schutzleiter“ the risk for mistakes is low. If not, make sure to know what you are doing
Yes I believe you need one or insurance might not cover if something goes wrong.
If there are plugs, no need for an electrician. You also do not need one to plug on your smartphone charger.
If it is a wired connection. you are free to do it yourself if you have a 300mA FI. But afterwards a electrician needs to confirm to Sicherheitsnachweis SiNa.
