Invoice payment when changing basic health insurance

Apologies if this info is somewhere on the forum. Spent some time here and on the web, without luck.

I’m looking forward to change my basic health insurance next year, probably all: insurer, model and deductable.

I have some undergoing cases and I was wondering which date would matter to determine “who pays”, if the events are around the end of the year, for example:

  • specialist visit: date of referral? date of visit? date of invoice?
  • physiotherapy: date of prescription? date of first session? date of last session? date of invoice?
  • pharmacy prescription: date of prescription? date od purchase?
  • x-ray or other examination: date of prescription? date of examination? date of invoice?

I was hoping that there is a simple answer to all that, allowing me to calculate my future health expenses and choose the right insurance for next year.

I don’t understand what do you want to figure out. The health expenses game starts anew every calendar year. The only thing that you might consider is if your costs above the franchise, try to accomplish more in the current year.

P.S. definitely not the date of invoice.

Suppose you have an expensive treatment with a 2-5k treatment due around the end of the year. It is a one time thing so that, for the next year, you expect to have either 2-5k costs or just the regular things that come with an otherwise decent health.

The question of which deductible to chose, which could also affect which model and which insurer would be the best fit can take relevance. The answer to that question would depend on whether the anticipated bill would be treated under your current policy or the one of the next year.

I unfortunately have no answer to the question.

The date of the service/treatment is what matters. Everything else you list is irrelevant. To be clear: That is per service/treatment/buying prescription. If a treatment requires multiple days the invoice might have to be split.

That’s what I was looking for. Thanks a lot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
