Interactive Brokers - ID card number

Dear Mustachians,

I am willing to open an account on Interactive Brokers.
THey as for the “National ID card number”. What do they refer to?
In my country, the card has 2 numbers: the citizenship number and the card number? Which one you I use?
The citizenship number is my national number which lasts for life while the card number is the number of the card that lasts until the card is perished and get a new one.

Thank you for your reply,
Nice day to you all,
Achille

What country is that?

If I remember correctly, IBKR asks Swiss residents only for the tax ID, which is the AHV/OASI number.

If you’re not a Swiss resident, this forum is not the best place to get help.

In Switzerland, it’s the AVS number that needs to be provided to IBKR, as it’s our unique lifetime identifier. I imagine it would be the same in your case, given that a card number can change. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make much sense, in my opinion.

I believe, but i’m not surce, they ask for both the card number (on your identity card) and the tax number (ahv). The card number is requested during the identity process before you have to hold the ID up to the camera. Since it refers to the ID photographed afterwards, it is also completely normal and okay for it to expire. The card number is on the Swiss ID on the front, top right.

But I wouldn’t over-study everything, just do what is required. Type in a number that is visible on the ID card… You’ll find out if it was the wrong one.

Hi guys,
I am not Swiss, but European. On you ID card, what number appears? The card number which is linked to the card or the citizenship number? In my country, the ID card number has the card number but the citizenship number, so the government can identify us as citizens.

Good day!

They ask ask for the “national id card number”

So it would make sense that the number asked for is the citizenship Id number and not the card number! Thank you. I will fill this number in.

You are Swiss resident, just provide your AVS number. It’s the same at the top of your salary certificate.
