That’s true for most exchanges tho, ARCA does the same.
Well, it finally got still much cheaper than any other Swiss broker that I know…
Hello Mustachian community,
I am new on this. I open my IB account but then when I want to buy ETFs domiciled in Ireland or Luxemburg, I cannot make it.
How do you do it?
Thanks in advance
Hi
IB support would be of a better help. A form may be missing or an authorisation in your settings.
Thank you Guillaume! I will contact them
Did you fund your account and have the funds?
Do you have a margin or cash account?
Hi San Francisco, yes, I have funds in the account, it is a cash account. Thanks
You did convert them to the ETFs trading currency (prior to making a buy order), did you?
Hi San_Francisco, yes, I did
Hello,
I have another beginners question, When I want to buy some ETFs at IB, I get a message saying I should request permission.
Should I do this? What are the risks of clicking there?
Thanks
Yes.
Well, you should understand what you are doing and don’t complain if the value your investment goes down.
Hi Dr. PI. Thank you for taking the time to answer.
I am asking because i want to.understand it. Would you like to help?
Thank you in advance
Well, what can I tell? No. I am not answering basis questions that are covered by basic FAQ of Interactive Brokers or where answered in this forum.
Check the IBKR for dummies thread.
What the others said ^
And try not to open a new thread for each question which can be asked in an existing generally matching topic.
Thank you all, in particular to Cortana who indeed helped me.
Have a nice day ahead.
I’ve noticed a change in the IB web interface, US ARCA(VT) the quote button is gone and the data seems live/real time for free.
Yeah, I noticed now the quotes are free and real time price and that the snapshot price has gone. Thanks IB
I bought an ETF denominated in EUR monthly over the last year and IBKR now tells me it is almost at 0 gain/loss but if I sell and exchange to CHF I have a loss of 7% before sell and fx fees. How is that possible? 7% loss only because of the EUR weakening against CHF?
An ETF or shares denominated in EUR bought monthly over the last year which are now at 0 gain/loss in EUR, would show an approx. 7% loss in CHF, yes about right.
According to the exchange rate you would have bought at an average of about 1.075 CHF/EUR (starting at 1.11 decreasing to 1.04) in that timeframe.
Current exchange rate 1.00.
Loss in CHF =7%
