Information and advice to buy a second house

Hello,

We would like to change our house, and we own our current residence. We live in the canton of Vaud and would like to stay there.

I’d like to know your recommendations (advantages and disadvantages) for the following two choices:

  • Buy the second house and rent the first?
  • Sell the first and buy the second?

What is definitely missing:

Is there a mortgage on the existing property? What are the conditions?

What are the fees and tax implications for selling the existing property.

And in a more global scale: what part of your wealth the existing property make?

Also: are you both Swiss/Permit C holders or not?

Furthermore, you can also rent the second property.
